incision numbness after brachioplasty
Curious what incision type you had; "back" of the arm or "inside" of the arm ? Did a survey 2 years ago here to see which group had more numbness.

My incision is inside. You can't see my scar from the front or the back. I have to either raise my arms over my head or really twist my arm so you can see. I wouldn't trade my placement to have more feeling. I love where my scars are. The numbness doesn't really bother me. It's just a strange feeling. Kind of like when you place your finger up to another person's finger and you rub down each. It's like I'm feeling two different types of skin. I'm now curious to know what your survey revealed.

There was loss of feeling in both groups with the "inside" group having a tendency for longer lasting numbness. Thread started with a person with some form of pain or poss. nerve damage I think.
Our literature indicates some concern over nerve issues when going "inside" since important stuff is located beneath the thin skin of that area.
Scars can be good or bad in either location, and satisfaction is better with a good scar. Now to determine who is going to scar well or poorly and plan location it appropriately...that's the challenge !

Great post! My first brachio was almost 2 years ago; and I had numbness when I had the revision and to this day, I still have numbness. It doesn't bother me at all. It just feels a little weird when I put lotion on my arms and can't really feel my hand rubbing the lotion on. :)
I believe that I was told by my surgeon that with excising the extra skin, and with the nerve endings in there, I may alway experience some numbness there. In fact, I had a hysterectomy 16 years ago and I still have numbness in my lower abdomin. It doesn't bother me a bit!
