Regular TT or anchor?
I'm new to this forum but wanted to ask your opinions on my upcoming surgery on Tuesday.
I'm booked for a extended TT meaning he would extend the scar to half way round my butt. But he also said that I'm on the verge of needing an anchor cut but it was really up to me. I obviously want the best outcome but worried about the wound healing and the fact that I'll have a large scar on my tummy (My bikini days are over so it's not like I'll be showing it off!) He also said if I do the anchor then he wouldn't need to extend the horizontal scar so much.
I feel like I still have alot of upper abdominal fat as well as a big panni. Anyone been in a similar situation? What would you do? I have to tell him which surgery I have chosen on the morning of surgery.

If you have a lot of loose skin above your belly button and on your sides then the anchor cut will probably give you the best results. I had muffin top that I hated when I put on a tight pair of jeans. I wanted that gone on my sides as well as the front. My surgeon explained he could get me much tighter with the anchor cut. The scars fade and not everyone had wound healing issues. I had none. Good luck to you. You will love being rid of that extra skin and your new flat tummy!

Renee - thanks so much for sharing your photos! I'm looking a similar "work". I need to decide if I want an extended TT with anchor or if I want to do a body lift. I'm also back and forth on the implants. I've met with 2 surgeons and am not sure how to proceed....
I want my arms done first because they bother me the most!

I had an extended TT with anchor and brachioplasty last week. My incision extends just past the mid-point of my sides.
I am DELIRIOUSLY happy with my decision to go "all the way". My incision is already healing very well, and I am pretty sure I will have a pretty minimal scar. I don't think the pain/recovery is much different - it isn't especially sore or troublesome to have that incision.
I have a VERY defined waist now, and a GREAT back. It even helped my flanks somewhat.
Check out my befores and afters on my profile. I had a pretty big "roll" above my belly button as well. You need to be a friend to see them, and pm me for the password.

I have not had my surgery yet but I am having a reg TT. My surgeon told me he would remove all the loose skin above the belly button with it and i would not have a muffin top = i explained i was very concerned about that. I do have a lot of loose skin up top due to pregnancy but he sais he will cut from 4 inches above my bb and the rest will tighten because it will be pulled down.

Trust your surgeon.
I was certain I needed an anchor cut with my lbl, and was adamant about it. I wanted not only to lose the muffin top, but wanted a small waist, flat belly, and tight as a drum skin. Dr Pino said he could give me all of that with a regular TT with my lbl. I was dubious, but finally went with his advice.
Despite my certainty that I would regret it, he was right. Some of these surgeons have seen so many bodies and done so many of these procedures, they can see the outcome before they even cut.
If you've researched your surgeon and like their work, trust your surgeon.

I never wanted the anchor cut cause I thought I didnt have a lot offat above my BB but apparently I had more then I thought after it all healed I noticed it more causemy belly is so flat , i never really had a muffin top just some loose fat so after my TT & belt lipectomy he did LIPO but he told me I would have loose skin on upper abd, well I did and then I wanted an anchor cut revision but he said he couldnt make another scar because it could compromise the blood flow. he told me I could get a second opiion but I value his & I felt someone else may just do it anyway, he said he could go into the old incisions again so what he did was pull it back to the flanks and it is much better
had I know then what I know now I would have just opted for the anchor cut you get more of an hour glass. the scars will fade and I would rather have a scar then loose skin. I have pictures up that u can see
good luck
