Binder question

I had myy anchor tt 4 weeks ago yesterday and I am still wearing my binder and I am actually scared to be without it.

I have some questions.... How long did you wear your binder after the tt?
I put on tummy tammer underwear on this morning to try that for support. Do you think I should wear them and bring the binder with me to work and put it back on if I need it or should I cut myself off cold turkey?
I am a runner and want to get back to the gym. Did you wear the binder there for the first little bit?

Thanks for the help....

I did okay for the most part with the pain. The only complaint I have is hip pain and some wierd electric like shock pain in one spot. My surgeon said that is normal due to the muscles re-attaching. The binder was and has definitely helped me with the pain management with adding the support. I have some drug allergies so I was only able to take tylenol 3's so at times in the beginning the pain was a little hairy.

I had to go back to work at 2 weeks because I started a new job in August. That was hard and would suggest if you can take 3 weeks off you should try. Just because eating and sleeping can be a little challenging.

I have been happy with the results so far so congradulations on your new journey...

Hi Kerry

I was to wear my binder for 4 weeks - 24/7...which I did.....but I kept wearing it for about 10 days longer and then at night only for awhile. I would wear it until you feel strong enough to support your abs without....eventually it gets better. I moved to flexees/spanx etc to still give me sume support.

I am now 9 weeks out and have been without the binder for 3 weeks and into normal undies the past 2 weeks...Still would not want to do any abdominal crunches...or at least only a few!!

I wore my binder for at least 4 weeks and moved on to Flexess cpmpression and continued with that until I was about 3 months out. I wore mine 24/7.

24/7 for 6 weeks and even then, the first week was "scary" and I wore it on occasion if I knew I was going to be doing "heavy" (ie. 10 lbs?) lifting possibly.

I am 8 wks out and I have worn my binder 2x this week for periods. I started back to yoga last week and skipped doing certain core exercises that were too much ab work and did a class on Tues this week and was able to do more just not too much. Did another class today and did some light ab work (the pilates section - I did maybe 10% of it! But it's more than I would have done last week). We'll see how I feel tomorrow but I have my binder on right now for some light support.

What about running? How did you do getting back into it? Did you wear a binder? How many weeks along were you?

I tried running last Thurs and I did intervals. Got through most of them but I was hurting before the last one so I didn't pu**** Was pretty tender the next day (this was last Wed after yoga on Tuesday so that might have been the issue?).

May try running again tomorrow with the binder to see if that helps.

I wore my binder 24/7 for 4 weeks after my LBL.  The nurse then had me wean myself off by wearing it to bed for the next three nights.  Except for about an hour last night (I was swelling and thought I'd give it a try), I haven't worn it or any other garment since.  I'm now 6 1/2 weeks out and I really don't feel like I need anything.
I'm also a runner and was able to go back to the gym at exactly one month out (four miles on the treadmill).  I was worried about running without my binder too, but I didn't have any real issues.  I usually have a little tingling in the beginning, but it goes away after the first half mile or so.  I'm now back to my pre-surgery running levels and feeling great.
Good luck with everything!

I wore it for 6 weeks - 24/7 and then purchased the 2nd phase garments and wore them for another 3 months during the day only.  I especially made sure I wore them when I was working (12 hr nights) and when I worked out.  I had a lot of swelling and the garment really decreased that!  I also had a seroma and it helped it reabsorp!
