Brachioplasty and Breast Lift at the same time

I have had 2 consults and decided to have a brachioplasty and mastopexy at the same time, in mid-November.

I am a little concerned about doing both at once and would welcome your thoughts on recuperation from these procedures.

I understand that I will have to wear a 'sports-bra-like' garment -- the thought of getting into one of those with newly modified arms is a little horrifying to me --- are they front-closure?

Will I be able to lift my arms overhead within a few days?

Thanks!   Starting to freak a little bit!

I had my arms done with an extended TT.  I have worn a bra since day 2 (a sports-type bra that fit with my compression garment for my tummy) with no problems.  It was a bit tricky getting into it - but once done, no problem.  I could lift my arms (slowly) over my head to get into it.  I had trouble getting it "down" at the back at first, couldn't reach around - needed hubby to help a bit.

You can get a compression garment for arms/breasts together online.  You might want to check with your surgeon and see about ordering one of these in advance.

Thank you!  My doctor's office gave me supplies, including some bras that I will be using.
They said that the arm  compression garments may not be needed and are hard to keep up --- that a long-sleeved t-shirt would be fine.

What do you think about that?

I appreciate your feedback!

My surgeon has me using compression bandages (like ACE or tensor bandages) on my arms. They are kind of a pain.  I figured out to wrap them kind of criss-cross and they actually bend with your arms that way and stay up.  Plus my home health care nurse got a much better brand that actually "stick" to itself and not slide all over.

Tight long-sleeve t-shirts might be tricky to get into at first.  I liked the comfort of having the wraps when the incisions were still new.  I'm wearing mine for 3 weeks he said...I might go a bit longer at nights etc.  I'm worried about the scars stretching - they look so fantastic now.

Check out the bra/arm combos.  Those would stay up realy well I'd bet.  I would have ordered them if I was from the US - I figure by the time I get them into Canada I'd be ready to not wear them anymore...

Hi Kath,

I had my arms, breasts, and lower face lift all done at the same time 2 years ago. Yes, my bras closed in the front. It was difficult to do anything with my arms including brushing teeth, eating, washing my hair. Thank god for a loving supportive husband who helped me each step of my journey to recovery.

Thank you --- I feel much better after meeting the nurse/patient coordinator on Monday.

They gave me a big bag of post-op supplies --- bandages, gauze, bras (front closure!)

Now, just have to get through until Nov 18th!!!

 I appreciate your experience.
