Going for it..

Well, I am going for the tummy tuck with Dr Mazaheri in December.  I was looking around for lipo at first and it just wont do what I want.. After some research I have decided Dr M is the best..  I am so freaked out though.. I think the scariest is the drains!  My husband is not the best nurse and I am a baby when it comes to pain.

I think I am going to buy a lift chair on ebay or craigslist for my recovery..

Anyway, I am excited..  I cannot believe this is going to come true. I have NEVER had a flat tummy.

Thanks all

Jen

Jen - I had my extended TT on Tuesday.  I cannot BELIEVE how flat my belly is.  I am SO excited not to have a flappy panni hitting my legs.  Because of the binder etc. I cannot fully appreciate this miracle yet - and it is still exciting.  I know it will be even more life changing once I can go out without the binder and put on real clothes etc!

The drains are not painful at all.  They are a pain in the butt when going to the washroom or changing/showering and they make you look freaky when friends come over lol.  Put they don't hurt.  I have to empty mine a few times a day (less and less now) and it isn't difficult or even very disgusting.  And I tend to get a bit squeemish about blood etc. lately. But NO WAY would my husband even come near.

If your husband isn't a good nurse (especially for helping you shower etc), you might want to consider asking someone else to come in every day to help you with that stuff for a week or so.  Or hiring a nurse for an hour a day maybe?  My husband was able to get over looking at my bandages and help me shower...otherwise I just need him to fetch me stuff and pick up heavy objects etc.  I'm taking advantage and making him do all the cleaning up and cooking ;0)  I made meals and froze them in advance, so its not really a lot of hard work for him.

I have a lift recliner - that was very helpful for the first two days - but I"m fine to get in and out of the chair un-assisted now.  A higher seat for the toilet would have been nice for the first few days -but I didn't have one and survived.

Eyes on the prize - you'll love it!

Thank you for the input! It really makes me feel better..  my hisband does alot for me but being a nurse is not one of them. LOL.. He will cook and clean for me.. just dont think he will dote on me or change bandages and empty drains.  I am used to my mother taking care of me as she is a nurse but she will not be able to fly out for this surgery since I am having it over xmas break.
Please keep us updated on your progress.. I am just weeks behind you!

Have a good day

I think you'll be fine without.  Make sure you have a high seated chair that you can sit up and put your feet flat on the floor with your knees at 90 degrees.  Nothing too saggy.  And maybe put a pillow on the seat to rise you up a bit...

Congrats Jen! I am so happy for you! The drains are more annoying than painful. I had the LBL and it wasn't that bad. The OnQ pain pump alleviates most of the discomfort for the first couple of days. In fact that most discomfort I had was the incision over my tailbone and since you aren't having the LBL your won't have that issue :) Besides, any of that will soon be forgotten when you see your new, sexy, flat tummy and adorable new belly button (Dr. M does the cutest belly buttons, I love mine!) I didn't have any dressings to change so I'm guessing you won't either. Dr. M uses glue instead of steri-strips. It wears off gradually over time and with showers. I tied a shoelace and wore it around my neck then pinned my drains to it for showers. It made it easier to shower without having to hold your drains. I am so excited for you! Let me know if you have any questions or if I can help you with anything. God bless.
