I know I have to wait until I reach my goal weight. But how long after that do I have to wait before I can have plastic surgery (tummy tuck, breast lift, lipo. etc) ? I have 40 more lbs. to lose to reach goal, I just wanted to start checking into plastic surgery. Is it as painful as I think it's going to be (very painful) ? I have heard some say it is very painful while others say it's not that bad. I'm going to have it either way, just wanted to know what to look forward to...LOL. Also, if anyone lives in the Huntsville, Al area can you recommend a very good plastic surgeon. Thanks for any information you have...

You want your weight to be "settled" before you have plastics.  You don't want to lose more after plastics and risk needing things redone.  I waited about 8 months after hitting goal and spent that 8 months settling in a steady weight.

Pain?  Ya it hurts.  But I have found it to be very managable with pain medication.  You want to keep on top of it or things can get pretty frightening.  That happened to me on day two and took most of a day to recover from.  Now that I'm on top of things - I am not having a problem.

I am having surgery in less than 2 weeks.  It's been 3 years 3 months since my RNY.  I've been at the about same weight for about 18 months, though I have lost 10 pounds since spring.

Part of my wait has been saving up to pay for the surgery with cash instead of financing or pulling it out of our home equity.

I know it's going to be painful- I had breast reduction surgery when I was 20 and it was painful, but not terrible.
