TT w/ or without lipo vs. Extended TT w/ or without lipo- what did you have?

Hi, everyone - I have received a few different opinions from surgeons and wanted to see what ya'll have had done...

Has anyone "just" had a "regular" tummy tuck? How were your results? My concern is what I might look like if I don't have an extended tummy tuck.. does it look weird? I have lost 120 pounds since having RNY...

Also, what's your take on having lipo with your tummy tuck? Did you do it? Not do it? Do you think it's worth it to have the TT if I can't have lipo right away and perhaps seek it out later?

Any and all comments are welcomed and appreciated! Thanks!

My understanding (and that could be wrong!) is that a regular TT is more for those ladies with a 'baby" pouch that they want to get rid of.

My surgeon told me that I really probably needed a circumferential LBL - but that he thought I might be happy with an extended TT with a vertical incision and save a bunch of money (insurance paid for that).  So far I am.

I might have to go back and do something else some day ...but the extended has taken care of a lot of what bothered me.

I didn't have excess fat, so I didn't have lip.  He would have done it if I needed it.

I agree most (not all) WLS pts need more than a TT.  The norm is extended TT or LBL.

I just had LBL with some lipo on the outer thighs.  I did not have much fat to take, but with the drooping I had some saddle bags that needed to be removed.

I was going to go with the extended TT & possibly the anchor cut, but the Dr. I used advised the 360 lift with out the anchor for me.  I agree now that I did not need the anchor.

It really really depends on your body, how you carried your wt. & what skin you have left that needs to be cut off.

I looked at tons of pictures, trying to find others with my body type pre-op & then look at their results.  But, ultimately I went with what my surgeon advised.  I am glad that I did ;-)

Good luck, I know that this is a big decision.  Lots of research! ;-)

I had super abdomonoplasty with lateral extension and lipo.  I cannot imagine needing at least some lipo no matter how much you lost.  I had thought I would need the anchor as well and I went under expecting that but the PS found that my muscles were quite tight under the skin and tissue. He was able to pull the skin tight and less cutting.  I'm very happy with my results with the exception that he lipod more on one side than the other so I have to have a slight revision but it's free...not looking forward to going back under but looking good so far.

I was far from a baby pouch and just had a regular TT.  I haed an extreme amount of skin since ALL of my fat was in my stomach area (my legs and arms were always ok)  Granted, my hips still sag and need lipo, so I probably could have used a small LBL, but I went with the TT.  My Dr. wants to do lipo in a year b/c in a tummy tuck, they can't remove the fat under the skin above the belly button.  Your ab muscles need the fat as a blood source.  So, they remove the fat below the belly button, then stretch your skin/fat above the belly button down.  Then, later on, as things have healed, they remove as much fat via lipo that they can without hurting your ab muscles.

I'm very happy with my TT.  After 3 pregnancies in 3 years, my stomach muslces were shot and completely separated to the sides of my stomach.  They were able to bring those back together and thighten, which feels wonderful.  I still have a bit of skin wrinkle in my stomach but I had so much skin to remove, it was  a hard and long precedure.  I do love my tight and flat stomach though!  I had the regular TT, not anchor style.  Sometimes I wish I would have just so they could pull from the sides but my sides aren't fatty, they're just extra skin too.  So I was ok with a little flab there.  My hips are now my fattier problem, but I do plan to do lipo there and in my stomach right above the scar line from TT (a small pooch).
