Lisa,

I don't have back pain from my panni hanging, but I can identify with the smacking.  Many body parts make clapping sounds when I'm exercising and none of them are from my hands.  I have, unfortunately, let this effect my motivation to exercise. So  I checked into PS for breasts, panni, arms and legs to see what they would cover.  I also have BCBS PPO.  They said they would cover the panni and breasts after having maintained a certain weight for 6 months and prove that it was a medical necessity, unless the panni covered the pubic region, then it didn't need to be a medical necessity.  Did your insurance have the same weight maintance clause?  I still have 70lbs to lose, so I feel by the time I lose it my panni will be (this is soo grosse) but long enough for insurance to cover!  Love the DS, not so much the left over skin.

Hi Betsy!

The insurance company and I went over all the codes the other day and I did/do meet the criteria as far as we know, but I'll want the surgeons office to confirm that. They didn't mention anything about weight maintance, mine said a massive weight loss of at least 100lbs and I needed to be a year out from surgery, and there were a ton of other things once we went over the codes.... skin hanging down, infections or ulcers, issues with function- ie sking hanging over pubic area... I'm anxious to meet with these surgeons and see what they have to say.

My skin is bad after having lost all this weight and my pubic area, don't even wanna go there, Dr Livingstons office said he works with that when he removes the panni! I'll be a new woman... hehehe

My boobs are tooooo small for them to cover anything. I'm an A cup! Thank goodness for Victorias Secret, I shove them into the super padded B cup and look like I've got something in my shirt! lol

Take care! Hope to get a DS gathering set up soon!

for those who have had the panni done (longer than me, as I'm about 3 months out, done July 23 this year) tell me ....

how long your swelling in your tummy lasted and the pain in the stomach muscles?  I was told by my surgeon that even though all the nerves and such are in 'working order' I may never regain the feeling in my stomach, I can accept that BUT I do NOT like looking 5-7 months preggers at 45 and depending on the time of day.  I'm "fatter" through the stomach now than before I had the panni removed.

Oh, and I have a hip to hip curved binki line scar.  The pain from the panni itself was nothing!  The drain tubes (I had three in the pubic region) were hell to say the least.  I had them for four weeks.  :(  NOT a fun time!  I wore my binder for a couple of weeks, but started having panic attacks from it due to the numbness in my stomach and would wake up feeling like I had to 'escape' and doc said it was ok not to use it.  Now I'm wondering if I messed up healing because of that and will always look preggers....:(

Thanks &  good luck to you all in the process of the panni!  I really think once my swelling goes down I will be happy!  LOL (I am with the 12 pounds that have been removed!)
