What size did you wear pre-lift?  My two consults said the same thing - that I'd be "man-boobs" without implants.  I REALLY don't want them due mostly to a strong family history of breast cancer.  I've been getting mamograms since 35 - and the technicians all say implants are more difficult. One PS passed this off as bunk.  Hmm...

But I also don't want to look like a cancer patient who just had a double mastectomy either.  So I'm avoiding the decision.

I'm a full B cup now - mostly skin.  I don't mind the size of my breast now - but I worry that a lift would pretty much remove all that I have.

Did you have the lollipop cut?  Any chance you have any after pics?

Great thread.  Great response from Dr. L - you expressed many of my concerns exactly.

I was a full 34 D post weight loss and I am now a 34 full C. I love my breasts being smaller and perkier! I couldn't be happier with how they turned out. I have before and after pictures on my profile. You must be a friend to see them and they are password protected. PM me if you would like to see them.

Erica, I was concerned about mammograms too.  I've been getting regular mammos since about 25 when I found a lump.  Thank God it turned out to be just a fatty cyst but cancer in general is in my family.  Two years ago after a lot more weight loss, after my routine mammo I waited for them to tell me they got good images and I could go... the tech came and took me in a different room and asked if I had time to do an ultra sound.  Begin melt down.  After the ultra sound, the radiologist was called in and talked to me about something they saw but wasn't sure.  I was scheduled for a core biopsy.  Continue melt down.  The day after that, I was called with good news.  Melt down stopped.

So fast forward to the implant decision.  I discussed it with my ps and my gyno.  Both assured me that mammos are still effective with implant patients.  And I too had a tech tell me they're harder.

In August I had my first mammo with my new implants.  Even though I had checked off implants on my intake form, something told me that I needed to mention it.  I did.  The tech didn't know about them. However, the only difference was that she had to do a few additional views with different plates.

Be careful when techs say that they're too difficult that they don't mean it's more work for them.  My tech muttered "and they only allotted me 5 minutes."  To their defense, they have a lot of patients to get through and when unknowns come up (such as info on the intake form not being passed on to them), it throws them off schedule.

My results from my mammo with the implants were fine and there was no pain either.

Dr. L

Let me first say, that I have been on this board a few years, and I just LOVE the fact that you come on here and give all of us some insight on whatever the subject may be! You are very busy I am sure, and still take time out to come visit this site, and help all of us! I respect you for that.

A friend of mine used you (Jill Pugnetti) and she looks fabulous!!

Anyhow, thank you so much for some insight on this! This really does help me in my decision. I am revisiting one of my doctors on Friday and I am going to chat with him about just doing a lift. And then if at a later date I am not happy then I will look into implants.

Thank you again for info!

Prior to my plastics, I was wearing a 36-38 C cup; after my lift, I am wearing a 34 C. I'm grateful my surgeon told me I wouldn't lose too much volume because I really didn't want an implant.

FYI: my surgeon told me basically the same thing that Dr. L said; he prefers to do implants AFTER doing a lift (he recommended 6 months) because he said he gets better, truer results.
