1 week post op ex-TT and chin lipo

Well folks, I'm still here.... :)  I made it through my first week and things are looking very good.  We went today for the one week checkup, and I was thrilled that they pulled one drain and removed the sutures in my chin as well as half my bellybutton sutures.  She asked me to return on Friday for the remaining sutures and to pull that other tummy drain.

Lately things have been going well with the recovery.  I have days where I'm more active, on my feet and doing more...and then days (like today) when I spend almost the entire day in my chair and sleeping.  I didn't sleep last night though, so it doesn't seem too weird that I'm zoned out today.

I'm almost completely done with pain meds...I requested to stop taking the ds percocet, as they were making me sick to my stomach and asked for some more mild vicodin just to help me through the night, where I was still having some pain when I try to settle in for the night.

Color and scabbing all look great, honestly this thing I wear on my head for the chin lipo is more of a hassle than the abdominal part...it hurts my ears and is scratchy and hot.  I'm still drinking my zipfizz like crazy and trying to stay hydrated and also taking my stool softeners regularly since pushing in any way equals pain.  I'm putting together an album for those curious about the pics...I had the anchor incision tt plus a little chin lipo to take care of the waddle under my neck.

Congratulations on your surgery and so glad that your recovery is doing good.  I have a couple questions if you don't mind to answer:
1) I see you are several years post op, Have you kept your weight off this whole time?
2) How much did you weigh when you had this surgery?
3) did insurance pay for any of this?
Sorry if these are personal questions. I am approx. 16 months post op, I weigh 188 lbs. and I have submitted for the insurance to pay a portion of this today.  Praying that I can.
I am going to have the anchor incision also.

Hi Angie,
I had my surgery in 2002, at 310lbs, and lost down to 152 at my lowest.  About a year after that I had my second (and final) child, and went up a bit, to about 180 at most.  A little later on (beginning of 2010) I was at 166 and started thinking about having the plastic surgery done.  I met a plastic surgeon who was dating my sister in law, and got to know him very well.  About the time I was ready to have surgery, I found out that I was severely anemic- and had a round of iron infusions followed by a hysterectomy in June.  Day of surgery I was 168lbs, which is a comfortable weight for me, size 8-10.  For three months prior to surgery I attended curves 3-4 days per week, and walked 3-5 miles per day at least five days a week.  So I feel like I am doing what I need to do to be healthy and active, and if it would take more than that to be thinner, then forget it...lol.  I eat little or no bread, no fast food, no soda and no caffene.  My metabolism is just super slow and regardless of how much I work out, it just wants to hold on to every ounce.  That probably has something to do with my hysterectomy as well.

So now that my blood levels were back up, I was finally ready to go forward.  I am a cash pay person, so no insurance was involved.  With my 'family discount' I was able to have my anchor incision tt and a chin lipo done at a surgery center for $8800.00.  That is all inclusive of after care, garments, etc.  I did my labs and such through my hemotologist (so that was covered by ins) three days before surgery, which worked out great.  The surgery itself was over five hours, and although I could have had a regular tt combined with arms or something else at the same time, having looked at lots of result photos and researched online, I decided that I really wanted that anchor incision.  I was an open RNY, so I already had a vertical scar- so why not??!  I had lots of loose skin up on my shoulder blades, in the bra area that was just nasty- and I didn't want to go in later for a second surgery to address the back skin.  So this worked well, because my back is now FLAT.  It was the first result I could see- the same day of surgery...and no incisions back there.  The rest will be done with my arm lift, which will address the armpit problems...and any other issue will come with the breast lift/aug that I will be saving for next year.

Thanks!

Hey Autum,
I've been resting and in my spare time trying to keep my kids and household together. It's crazy trying to run my life from a recliner!  :)  I'm thinking about you and wishing you the best for Monday.  I know your nerves must be driving you crazy, I know mine were.  Just keep it together and try to get as much rest as you can.
