Looking for past and prospective PS patients

Hello Everyone, I have been a member of OH for about 7 years. I finally had my surgery 17 months ago and could not be more pleased with the results. I have lost 172 lbs to date and have had very little complications, if any. I had my surgery with Dr. Huy Trieu in Augusta Maine. He is a gifted and talented surgeon, that exceeded my expectations.

Throughout this process, I have found OH an invaluable tool to find out information and plan my discovery, surgery, recovery and now maintainance.

The next logical step for me was to start finding information about plastic surgery. This can be a scary, complicated process; however, I have done my research and I am in the works of planning my surgery with COSMED Tijuana. I will be working with them to educate people about their services and looking for previous patients as well as prospective ones to answer any questions and get feedback from the ones who have used the clinic. I will also be posting this on the plastic surgery forum and giving updates about my progress, the feedback I get from patients and serving as a laiason of sorts between COSMED and prospective patients.

Many people may be leary of surgery that is outside the States. I was too. Until I realized that the work that I needed would be so far out of my reach here, that I nearly went into a state of depression. That's when I decided to research the quality, safety and patient outcomes of some centers in Mexico. One kept standing out...COSMED! So I contacted them and from the very onset, I have had nothing but positive interactions with the staff. I have also corresponded with several patients and they all had a similar theme, They were very happy with their choice to use COSMED. We all know that this whole process is a journey and we never actually reach a destination. We can help each other through sharing our experiences and providing information about what worked for us. Please feel free to contact me if you have used COSMED or you would like more information and I will be sure to get back to you as soon as possible.

Blessings, Judi

Tred lightly there is a fine line between support and advertising and even with this post I fear you are getting very close to that line.  Particularly when you say that you are a liason.

Just to clarify, I am researching all of this for myself and for my blog. I have several centers in mind and have contacted all of them; however Cosmed was the only center to spend the time to talk to me and when I told them of my idea to track this process, they were very supportive and to date they are the only ones that have given me express consent to use them in my posts. Sorry if you confuse my enthusiasm with advertising. I will say this though, just like my bariatric surgeon, if they are to be the ones that I use, I will certainly continue to shout it from the rooftops! Anyone and anything that makes a positive impact on my life I get excited about...and if they can use that for advertising, so be it.

Thank you for your input and I appreciate your post.

Blessings, Judi

While there are great surgeons outside the US ,you will need follow up care in case of complications and that should be local.  I chose to use a resident program in order to save money and I was very happy with my results. Just something to think about.

Thanks for the suggestion Susie, It is definitely something to think about. Just like my bariatric surgery and surgeon took me a long time to decide, I will weigh my decision heavily...or not so heavily anymore, lol.

I am also in Maine (Bangor area) and am almost 9 years post of from RNY. (270/145)  I would be interested to hear what the prife diffrence is when going to Mexico for plastic surgery procedures.  I would love to have a breast enhancement, you know to fill in all of that skin... and a tummy tuck but can't afford it here and never will.

You might want to post a message with the surgeon's name in the subject line.  I, too have read horror stories.  Have you looked into any of the resident training programs?

please keep doing your research.
there were a couple girls on lthis line that went to Cosmed & had Dr. Quiroz and they looked horrible, looked like they were butchered.
I had my surgery in the states but if u want to go to MX, check out Dr. Sauceda in Monterrey, A lot of people on this site have gone to him & his work is beautiful, if I had the nerve to go to MX he is who I would use he even has his own forum on OH,  everyone raves about him.

check out patients on this forum who have used Cosmed, dont trust the names they give u
Good Luck Susan

There is SOOO much after care with plastic surgery.....not like bariatric surgery. I was like you, I just breezed thru my weight loss surgery, but the plastics are a WHOLE lot different. I suggest that you spend a lot of time reading the experiences of the plastic surgery patients on this board....you will see that almost EVERYONE has some kind of complication. Fortunately, I had a fabulous plastic surgeon and I was one of the very few that had no problems. I read many horror stories about wound separations, seromas, infections, holes that took, literally, months to heal, etc. I, by no means, am trying to talk you out of having plastic surgery, I LOVE MINE!!!  But, please do a lot of research and don't go with some place just because they let you use their name in your research. Congrats on your fabulous weight loss and good luck with your plastics, you will love them!!!

Update, I have spoken to well over 20 past patients from Cosmed. They all have great things to say. I spoke to Dr. Quiroz himself today and he was absolutely amazing. He spent 45 minutes on the phone with me and told me all the procedures that he thought I needed. He gave me an estimate for all the work that needs to be done and I am going to try to see if this is something I can afford. I so appreciate all the input from OH and they even gave me the names of 2 patients that did have some concerns and I intend to contact them and find out what their experience was like. They told me that the patients had minor revision issues and that they offered to fix them and make it right free of charge but there was no reply.
I spoke to one former patient of Dr. Quiroz, she is a very respected member of OH, and until I spoke to her I did not want to use her name, but she has given me permission to do so. It is Eggface. Her website is theworldaccordingtoeggface.com I intend to research until my eyes fall out. But so far, I am definitely leaning toward Cosmed, every surgeon is going to have some patients that are not happy, but so far his referrals and credentials seem impeccable.

Blessings, Judi
