I had my tt and bl/ba August 24, 2009. Lately I have been noticing swell hell in my belly. Last month I posted about gaining 6 pounds and found out it was just swelling. Last night I was looking in the mirror I noticed I have that pouch again so I climbed on the scale and there it was again, 4 pounds gained overnight.
I wanted to know; does anyone else still have swelling spells so far post op?
Thanks in advance for you input.

Aloha Sherline-
When you say swelling, is it liquid, like a pocket of fluid? Or edema, that is pitting? Could it be a hernia ( that shouldn;t cause 4 lbs weight gain). Is it always the same spot? Is it worse after a hard workout, or some new exercise? Do your feet swell at the same time? What does your surgeon say?I'd definitely check in with my surgeon, sounds hinky- I am 9.5 months out from my 360` CBL and never swell, no matter how hard I work out, and my weight never fluctuates that much in a night-morning weigh in.

I think a light bulb just went off in my head! Honestly from time to time, I couldn't understand why my "belly" would seem to look "larger" than other times - and I would notice that few pound gain on the scales. I truly couldn't understand it. In a few days again, it will just go away. I don't thin****il now, that I ever realized that it could be possible swelling. Wow...now that certainly does shed some light on things! Hmmm...
Thanks for sharing your information! I pray that both our bodies get past this issue and settle down soon.
God bless you,
Rose

I am about 18 months from my LBL and I still swell. Someone posted a few months back saying that they had a little swelling at 3 years out which is by far the longest I've seen around here. Before that was 18 months.
I have learned not to focus on the scale anymore. I can feel when I'm swollen so I don't weight myself and I NEVER weigh at night. I have never done that even before PS. Everyone has a little water retention by the end of the day which is why they say it's best to buy shoes late in the day because your foot is a little fuller. Anyhow I only weigh in the mornings because that is the best way for me to get the best idea of where my weight is. Some days I notice the swelling starting early in the day and others towards the evening. I drove myself crazy the first year because I thought it would never go away. It has gotten better but it is not completely gone. I had some lipo done a few months ago and I think that has also added to my swelling lasting even longer. Swelling from lipo can last a really long time for some folks. I just know that I have come so far and look so much better than I could have ever imagined. And to be honest, no one notices the swelling but me so I know it is not obvious to anyone else.
Try not to be so hard on yourself!

Thank you to everyone for your support and input, I had no idea we can continue to swell at 3 years post op, but I am not surprised. I keep forgetting how serious reconstructive surgery is, just thinking about about someone cutting and tightening my insides remind me of how serious these procedures are.
I started back sleeping in my binder and by morning the swelling is down. Since winter is coming I can handle sleeping in my binder for a couple of months.
Thanks again.
