Swelling...
Hi Everyone,
I had a TT on 9/9/10 and my recovery has been great so far (minimal pain, back to light walking, mobility is OK, compression clothes not bothering me, etc.). I have noticed, however, that I have a lot of swelling at the hip/pelvic area and also in my thighs. It is worse at the end of the day and much betting in the morning, but it is noticeable.
I was wondering how long the swelling lasts and what you did to minimize it. My Dr. said after 6 weeks or so most of the swelling would be gone, but you guys will know the real deal. I know that it will eventually go away, but if there are stretches or other activities I could do to bring down the swelling or minimize it in some way I would love to hear them.
Thanks!

Thanks for the advice. I know the surgery-related swelling will go down in a few weeks as the wounds heal, but the swelling in my thighs was a bit of a shock. I think that when I walk around it gets worse. I looked online and found that this is common after a TT.
I wear my compression garment 24/7 for now, and in two weeks I'll be able to wear it only when I am awake. I actually like it because it gives me support and I feel more confident moving around with it on.

I am almost 6 months post op and I still swell on a daily basis! Some days are worse than others (hello, exercise?) but I'm trying to just live with it....I've stopped letting it keep me from being active, and that at least helps with the mental part.
