Help: Drain output
I had an anchor cut as well as other things at the end of July. The beginning of Sept I still had 1 drain putting out about 50 ccs a day. I popped a seroma and my surgeon said to pull the drain as drainage would come out this new hole. But it didn't. After 12 days I had 875cc of fluid under all my incisions showing up on an ultrasound. I flew back and he removed the fluid, infused iodine for one 1/2 hour and installed a new drain, while fixing the hole. A few days later I had another iodine infusion. Tomorrow will be two weeks since I had this second surgery and I've been instructed to stop the suction for 24 hours. I am on my second day of this, yesterday was 30 ccs in 2 hours. This morning 40 ccs so far and it's been about an hour with the suction on. Long story, but figured I'd give all the information.
I could use some hope and encouragment. If you had a drain, that just wouldn't quit, even the second time around, how long did it take for you? What kind of treatment was administered? I read last night on another board of someone taking to bedrest for three days for those numbers to drop, wondering if that's my next step??? I have stitches removed Tuesday, so could begin this on Wednesday.
And yes, I am wearing my compression garment 24/7 and it's very snug, hopefully to not let the abdominal cavity fill again with fluid but I am feeling a bit fuller by evening.

Iodine is an irritant so causes irritation and then scaring, putting the skin and muscle back together like glue. If you google, you will also find some surgeons using room air, it does the same from what they say.
Drain came out two days ago, still some fluid in their, hoping for no seroma. At least none that pops again.
