Does anyone have a drain story to share?

Hey Everyone!
I have a post-op appointment tomorrow morning and I'm very worried they're not going to remove my drains.  I'm nine days post-op from my LBL and BA and I am so ready for things to go back to normal.  Plus, I have to go back to work this work this Tuesday and I very much don't want to have to hide my drains in a fanny pack and pretend it's a fashion statement.
So I guess I was hoping you could all share your drain stories so I'll have an idea of what to expect.  I know there's no magic number for when they come out, but is there any other standard used?  My output has been decreasing, but has definitely not stopped, and one of my drains has been dark red for several days now.  But I also feel great and have had a relatively easy recovery if that makes a difference.
Any info would be appreciated!  Thanks for your help!

Yeah, I had 4 drains. The first 2 were removed in the goin were removed at my first post-op visti at 10 days out. The 3rd drain was removed at week 3. I had to return to work 4 weeks post-op and still had a drain. I was able to tuck the tube into my pants and pin the bulb up under my shirt. The input on my last drain had been going down but w/ going back to work it doubled. I had it leaking out of my thigh and dripping down my leg. Had to have that sucker in for 2 more weeks before it was removed at 6 weeks.

If you do have to go to work w/ a drain in I would bring extra tape & 4x4 squares. I would fold them in 1/2 and cut a slit in the center so they can slide around the tube to help when it leaked out of my thigh. You may also want to empty the drains more when you first get to work that you are currently doing at home to avoid the problem I had.

That's awful.  You poor thing!  Thanks for sharing your story.  If I have to keep them for a while, I think finding a discreet way to pin them is a very good idea.  The fanny pack is way too obvious and I really don't want people asking questions.
Thanks!

I don't have a drain story, but I'm reading taking notes. I'll be having drains soon.

I had a LBL and had 4 drains.  The  fisrt one came out at 1 week, the second at 10 days, the third at 6 weeks and the last one at 7 weeks.  What worked for me was to put the bulb in my  front pants pockets and wear a longer shirt loose .  Your clothes don't hang right but the bulb isn't noticable.  Good luck you may get your drains out soooner.  brenda

I'm free!  They took my drains out this morning!  So apparently I was worried for nothing.
Thanks for your help, everyone!
