I just don't know what to do to get back on track. I just can't figure out how I let myself gain 10 lbs! It scares me to death that I could gain back all 100 lbs that I lost if I can gain 10 lbs in 6 months! I think that having 3 surgeries back to back was so hard on me and so I of course had to stop working out and then my eating habits just went to pot. I was 150 lbs the day of my first surgery and oddly the day of my 2nd surgery as well. I got down to 146 after the 2nd surgery and today I'm 154. I guess that's technically a 9 lb gain but I think it's more because they removed about 10 lbs of skin and fat and I never saw that fully on the scale. I keep trying to do little diets, they didn't work pre-surgery, so I'm not sure why I'm thinking they'll work now. I HATE that my stomach is fat again, I had a tummy tuck to finally have a flat stomach! I HATE that my clothes don't fit. I feel like I'm back in this roller coaster again that I was in before. I'm so depressed over it and find myself eating to cope with the depression. Not good. And to top it off, I'm still having major swelling issues. Every single night my stomach sticks out so much that I look 6 months pregnant. I know it's swelling because of how it changes from morning to night, and how it feels as well.

Tell me I'm not alone and help me get back on track. I know the text book answers of going back to eating protein first, etc. etc. I just can't seem to do it. Ack! This sucks! :(

You are probably still swollen so the weight is not real. Lay off the salt and see if that helps! And drink lots of water.

I am also almost 6 months post op and experiencing swelling on a daily basis. It is worse when I exercise, so of course I don't....and I am finding this to be the KEY to my maintaining weight! I yo-yo up and down the same five pounds and it is FRUSTRATING!

I have an appointment with the surgeon on Wednesday and swelling is going to be my number one topic for discussion! I will come back and let you know what, if anything, I find out.

I think I am going to exercise, regardless of the swelling, and just try to DEAL....

Good luck.

I work out a lot, so that probably doesn't help my swelling issues. I need to make an appt with my surgeon for my 6 month follow up. I just have been to ashamed to go in and hear him say that I've gained weight. Ugh! I think I'll make an appt for a lymphatic massage and try to get rid of this swelling, it's just awful!

Another lady just posted that what's been helping her work out swelling is stretching.

You CAN get back on track!!  A few months ago I gained 5 pounds and completely freaked out.  I gave up one of my daily snacks and the 5 pounds are gone.  Just get back to the basics that got you where you were.

The swelling is totally normal for some of us and there is no magic trick to make it go away if we are destined to swell. That said, please don't be so hard on yourself. I am 18 months out and although my swelling isn't as bad as it was the first year, I still swell occasionally. I've done everything under the sun but like my doc says, some people are just swellers. It will get better so give it time. I had to work really hard not to dwell on the swelling because it was so depressing. Especially when you see people on here talk about how they don't swell or only did for a short time. Everyone's healing is so individual. I really think the swelling is impacting the numbers you see on the scale. Just make the right food choices and exercise when you can. You can move past this!
