2.5 wks post-op Mastopexy - lumpy/swelling under incisions down sides?
Not sure I've described that properly but lets see if I can do any better here.
2.5 weeks post Mastopexy with light lipo down my sides (from down my sides, not my actual breasts) as I had a lot of tissue there. Scar goes from under breasts as with most reductions/lifts and goes right around and almost onto my back. (I also had an extended TT at the same time but I don't think it's related but felt I should say I had both done at the same time so you know all the details. :) )
Have internal dissolving stitches under breasts and sides with surgical glue.
On Thursday (Sept 16th), I had the stitches removed from my areola and the surgeon took off the remaining (90%) of the steri strips.
This afternoon, I have noticed that the area under my arms/under the side incisions feels ropey - like there is a hotdog under the incision on both sides (about 3-4" in length and the circumference of a hot dog).
I just talked to a girl friend who had a small reduction done in January and she said she felt it was not abnormal although she felt this under her breast incisions. She didn't need to have skin removed from the sides like I did (I was a G/H before surgery and I'm wearing a 38C/36D sports bra post-operatively).
Any advice? Is this "normal" and to be expected? I can call my surgeon tomorrow (or tonight but I honestly don't feel this is emergent) to ask as well but I thought I'd see what those of you who have had this think as I am not scheduled to see him again until Friday this week.
PS. I should add that I started driving again on Friday and have resumed more normal activity levels since my stitches came out but I'm still following the "no heavy lifting" rules, etc. Still taking Advil every 4-6 hrs as needed.

Well...a soft lumpy could be a fluid collection, a firmer lump can be swelling of the fat. Your doc should be able to sort this out. I see quite a bit of this at the bottom of the incision of my breast lifts and it all softens over time.

Sounds like it might be more fat that fluid as it's definitely more firm that soft lumpy. I did have some fluid/blood pool at the top that he drained when I saw him on Thusday. I guess I will hold off until I see him Friday again unless it gets dramatically firmer or hurts between now and then.
Thank you.
Thank you.

I also have heard that lipod areas can feel ropey which is why it helps to massage those areas lightly. When I did my lymphatic massages after my LBL and lipo, the therapist could feel lots of those little knots on one side more than the other. She spent a lot of time massaging those areas and they went away. Just give it time but definitely ask your dr about it.
