drainage tube removal question

Hello!  I just had abdominoplasty and panniculectomy last week and I have two drainage tubes going out of my pubic area.  I was wondering when I would get them removed and if it hurt much to get them removed, honesty appreciated, if anyone knows. Thanks much!!Mere

I had my two tubes from my lbl removed at 7 days post op. It really didn't hurt at all- didn't even realize they were out until it was done.  I do know, though, some have a very different experience, with pain or uncomfortableness. I can tell, you though, I've never heard anyone say they were not happy to get those drains out. One of the best feelings in the world!

They come out when the drainage gets low and clear enough.  Mine didnt hurt cmoing out at all.  I even had to pull one myself (part of the way)

One of my drains was out at about a week and the other at 10 days. Neither one hurt and I ended up pulling the second out myself with no problems. I have heard a few saying that it hurt a little though.

I have no idea only b/c they numbed me!  My PS said he used to not numb the area but when he had a drain in himself, for a surgery, and the nurse had to pull his - he said never again would he do it without the numbing first.  I said Thanks, please numb lol...
