Anyone travel a long distance for plastics
Other then to Mexico??
I have been looking at getting my breasts and arms done in TX with Dr. L. I haven't gone as far as contacting them as I just had a Fleur de Lis TT and hernia repair and I am sore as hell but honestly now my breast are litterally at my waist and when I lay down, my armpits. UGH.
So my question is, would you travel by plane to another state to have yours done? For me it's about a 4 1/2 hour plane ride, 2 weeks in a hotel before I could come home, but the results he shows make me really want to go there.

I didn't realize I was in the post till ater I clicked, but I'll reply in the generic as it's a good question !
My patients who travel to or within Texas have some things in common:
1) No qualified or experienced practitioners in their area. Very true of the Rio Grande Valley in Texas, central Texas, and western La.
2) Desire for a technique not done elsewhere (i.e. short scar or LeJour breast lift, upper body lift).
3) Referral/reputation
Travel can be fine if you accept a few conditions and make plans:
You will need lodging for a week (breast surgery) to 2 weeks (lower body lift).
You should come with someone else if possible
You need access to a doctor who I can confer with back home
You need to be internet savvy so we can look at photos, etc if needed.
You need to be given a low-dose blood thinner if you are more than 3 hours away by car, boat, plane, or train.
Hope this helps !

I have to travel about two hours away for my plastics (I take the train) but I traveled from Florida to Nebraska for my WLS. Traveling for surgery is not all that bad if you have a good support system waiting for you at home. You have to have a good doc who is willing to work with your surgeon as a team player. You also have to have the inner strength to make it work. I think you need to have a good streak of independence.
