I should have been "lightening girl" as in lightening quick recovery (because I was in such awesome shape damn it!)...yet I am "problem child".  I guess some things just never change about me.

I think you should reschedule your surgery period. That is too soon for you to be alone especially with as many procedures you are having done. You seem to be more worried about your kids, but you really should be more worried about yourself. Your kids are old enough to take care of themselves for the most part so they will do fine. The first couple of days are the hardest to maneuver around especially when you can't use your arms. Maybe after 5 days you MIGHT be okay but better safe than sorry. You just never know if a complication may develop.  Even if your recovery is perfect you will feel tired and sore and not want to do anything without help anyway.  You can't even compare PS to the sleeve in my opinion.

Good luck!

Thanks everyone for your comments and concern.

I am not able/willing to reschedule my date.  Mostly because my job is pretty busy/hectic and I've spent the last two weeks rearranging EVERYTHING in order to get the full 3 weeks off (or most of it) that I need for recovery.

The good news is that I asked my DH to read this thread.  He did - and confessed that he didn't really understand how much more difficult this recovery would be than my sleeve.  He has told work that he can't go to the first two days (the thursday, friday), but will go down for the next week (on monday).  They are fine with that - and that way someone will be home with me for the entire first week.

So thank you for your honesty!  I love that we can come here and get the straight goodS!

Hi - Most important thing to remember is everyone's experience is different.  It's always nice to have someone on standy-by just in case.  I had the same two procedures you are having.  I went home the same day and had my sister stay with me the first night and come by once a day for the next few days just in case I needed anything.   I was able to shower on my own two days later.  I've been doing Pilates for several years now and know that was one reason the recovery from the TT portion was easier (plus having a pain pump for the first four days).  My suggestion - make sure everything you might need is counter height.   Keep your cell phone on your night stand and when you're up and moving around put it in your pocket - just in case.  Good luck.
