Skin Narosis after TT
so, as of today i'm three weeks out from my TT and i'm depressed. I had a Fleur De Lis TT, and he took off 14 pounds! I developed narosis where the three points meet. I'm not a smoker or anything like that and i don't know why this has happened, i've done everything i've been told to do, I guess it's just one of those things that happpened. My doc cleaned it out on Monday and my husband has to pack my wound three times a day. Doc says that in about 6 weeks i'll be fine and that i'll have a little bit bigger of a scar there.
Today was the the first day that i saw it....i've been avoiding looking at it...and it's so ugly and disgusting! It's a little bit bigger then a golf ball and i'm so depressed about it all.
My insision all the way up to the belly button and to the right of the gaint gaping hole has gone from scabby and dark to yellow and this has me concerned that the skin narosis is spreading. doc says i'm doing fine though. And it's true that when i clean out this yellow part it isn't deep, it seems to be just on the surface.
I go back to see the doc on Monday. My other concern is that my left drain has lost suction, and that concerns me. the right drain still works though it really hasn't sucked anything out in a few days. Doctor also says that that's ok....

thank you for your support, i really need it today...Just looked at myself again and gagged. When my husband comes home i'm going to have him "power wash" me and repack me! and to top it all off "aunt flo" just came for a visit.
I wonder if i'm lacking some vitiam or minieral or protien and this is why it's happening, i don't know why i would, i'm getting in enough protien and taking my vitiams...but maybe i need a little more of something i'm not aware of.

Jenny, my thoughts are with you. I too had a fleur de lis tt on Aug 20 and I just went to my surgeon this morning cause I now have a hole where the 3 meet. He took 13 lb 7.3oz of skin so I was really concerned I did something wrong. He explained it to me like this, where the 3 pieces meet is the last part of the skin to get blood supply so at times this may happen, I can't help but wonder if it's also because we (you and I were are close in pre and post numbers) had so much removed and it's alot on our bodies.
I wish you well and try to keep positive.

Michelle,
it's good to know that i'm not alone, that makes me feel sooo much better! That is how my doc explained it to me too, it just sucks and i can't help but to think i did something wrong...didn't clean it enough, wore the binder to tight, etc.
I wish you luck, lets try to keep each other posted, because like i say, it's good to know that i'm not alone!

eat a lot of protein that helps u heal.
I had a TT and belt lipectomy 18 months ago and I needed a revision above he BB and he was going to do the fleur di lis, but he said because I had the belt lipectomy & was cut all the way around he didnt want to do te fleur di lis cause he said the blood flow could get comprimised and I could get necrosis, so Iguess it rally is true.
so he just went and pulled the flanks down into the old incision around my back,. and I m pleased with it.
Good Luck to you
Susan

How disappointing - hopefully it will heal quickly and your scar will be acceptable.
Did your plastic surgeon discuss the risks of surgery on patients with BMIs higher than 30? The risks of infection, necrosis and other problems are significantly higher when your BMI is over 30.
No, he didn't, but i've been at 220 for 2 years now and no matter how hard i've tried (and trust me, i really did my best) i haven't been able to get below that...than again no matter how horrible i am i don't go above it either. Plus, the extra skin was giving me month long migraines, so after suffering with that for 2 years i had enough.
Sorry for your issues. Necrosis or skin loss at the intersection of the 2 incisions in an inverted-T tummy tuck is the most common complication of that procedure. I have luckily not had it in the last 10 or so I have done, but it has happened and for no good reason.
Necrosis heals very slowly depending on it's size, and can take a lot of patience and daily wound care to get it to heal. Sometimes a scar correction is needed after it settles down in a year or so.
Keep in close touch with your doc, maintain your nutrition as others have indicated, and hang in there !
