Introduction/plastic surgery consult questions
Hi All-
First let me introduce myself; I'm Christine- had RNY in May 2009, @ 5'3 I was 310 lbs pre-op, now I weigh 158. Still about 30 lbs from where I really want to be, but I have barely lost any weight in many months despite good eating habits and exercise, I'm not sure these last 30 lbs will ever come off!!! I was hoping to have plastic surgery this winter when I graduate but before I start working as a nurse- I will have the time off while I'm studying for my boards and I know once I begin my career it will be quite a wait before I can take the kind of time off that I would need to recover from major body reconstruction.
Also I am not sure how much smaller I will ever get- when I lay down my wide hip bones protrude even though my belly is round and a bit flabby. Upper body my clavicles are very prominent and i have toned arms (minus the bat wings). I have a curvy figure for sure- maybe I just have a bigger frame- I dunno...
I was hoping that if I meet with the plastic surgeon now it would give me a professional opinion on how much weight he thinks it is possible for me to still lost, how much will come off during plastics, and how much they would like to see gone before the procedures and I would still have 3-4 months to work on it before surgery.
Anyhow I am looking to do:
-breast lift/possibly reduction (I used to wear a 44H now I am a 36 DD/DDD) but theyre deflated and sagging :(
-brachioplasty
-lower body lift
-inner thigh lift
I doubt i will be able to do all at once- and not sure I could handle the recovery even if the surgeon was willing to; but I want to do upper body first and then lower body right after. I was wondering what questions you all think are important to ask when I meet with the surgeon- I feel like as soon as I leave the office I'll have a million unanswered questions- so would be nice to go in with a prepared list. Any suggestions would be helpful- sorry this post was soo long. Thanks in advance :)

Congrats Christine!
I was in a similar boat when I first visited a PS in October of 2008. I'm 5' 8" and was 188 down from 287 when I first visited. He said he would take 5-7#s and that he could do the surgery then but recommended I be closer to my ideal weight before the procedure. He said the more lippo that has to be done the more blood loss and the longer it takes to heal. I wanted to get down to 165 but got down to 171 and it took me quite awhile to get off those last pounds. They took 7#s during my TT and panniculectomy. Here are some questions I thought were important:
- How many of these procedures have you done?
- Will this require a blood transfusion and if so can I donate my own blood before the procedure?
-Will it be done at a hospital or surgical suite?
-Can I donate my skin to a burn unit?
I found a lot of good questions Googling and a what to expect at the consult.
Good luck!
