5 weeks out with exposed stitch??
I noticed two nights ago that I have an exposed stitch in part of my breat lift incision! It's white so I'm assuming it's one that didn't dissolve? It looks as if the scab got soft, pulled off and revealed the end of the stich. It's not swollen, or draining or infected. What do I do with it? I've called and left a message with my plastic surgeon and they acted like it was no big deal, and has not called back. My husband thinks I should just pull it but when I did pull it (when I didn't know what it was at first), it started to bleed. So I stopped and now I don't know what to do!
I also had a few other scabs losen, come off and drain some more. I thought I'd be pass this point at 5 weeks out!

I had a few of those. It's really not a big deal. Two of them, I showed my ps and he took them out. I had two start working their way out when I was in between appointments so I just carefully pulled them out myself. On my next visit I did tell my ps about it and he double checked the area.
I would say if it's bleeding, don't pull, just let it work out a little further or call your ps again. Tell them that you tried pulling it out but it started bleeding.

My PS office told me they have seen the stitches "work" themselves to the surface upto 8 months out!!! I hope that don't happen!
I have had a few pop to the surface. I pull them with a tweezers gently. They are disolved under the surface. I would say definately, if it bleeds- STOP! Otherwise, you want to rid them, my PS said otherwise they can become an irritant.

They'll also make your scar widen at the point they are sticking out so if the hot compresses don't work tahe tweezers and pull it out as far as you can without causing it to bleed, then snip it off as close to the surface as you can. You may have to keep trimming it - I've still got one on my hip that keeps sneaking it's little head out. Snip-snip!
I know what you mean about worrying that you'll come apart if you pull. LOL I felt the samw way - and i had an LBL with stithces all the way around! I could just see my bottoms falling down.

I thought about snipping it close but what if it goes back in and never dissolves, then only causes infection? Or does it eventually dissolve? My incision is still numb so I can't feel pain if I'm doing any harm, so when I saw the blood I just stopped. I won't see my PS until next month for a check up. I do see my Gyno next week for my yrly appt on Monday and I was thinking of showing her during the breast exam. I know she's seen this sort of thing with c sections (I've had 3). Plus we're friends so I trust her.
I am 8 weeks out from breast augmentation, and just had a stitch "poke out". Called my plastic surgeon (I live 3 hours away) and she said that it was "no big deal". She said that it was a dissolvable stitch, and that it was "barbed"- so I would not be able to pull it all the way out (I tried!). She instructed me to sterilize tweezers and scissors in alchohol, then pull on the stitch with the tweezers and cut it off as close to the skin as possible. When I did this, it popped back under the skin, which has healed. The stitch irritated my skin and caused a small hole, which hurt and bled a little. It is fine now after cutting it off.
