Breast Augmentation after RNY
Hello-
I am only 4 months post-op so any surgery for me is off the table until at least one year post-op. However, I am beginning to research breast augmentation after RNY.
I am curious to get feedback from women who have had this surgery. What are the pros and cons? Any information I should consider? How painful is it? When did you return to work? Is it worth it?
Thanks for sharing!

I had a bl/ba in June. I love my results.
When you start the consult process, your ps will be able to tell you if you'll need the implants. A lot will depend on the breast tissue you have left. Of course, if you want them because you want bigger breasts regardless of your breast tissue, then they'll do that too.
There are many sites out there that list the pros and cons of implants and even saline versus silcone. For me the pros were that I would have the shape I wanted since my breast tissue changed drastically after my weight loss. The biggest pro for me was my happiness with my body. The cons are typical ruptures, encapsulization, maintenance, etc.
I was almost leaning toward not getting the implant, but after talking to my ps about his specific results, and seeing before and after pictures of women who did just the lift and the lift and implants. The implants showed the results I wanted.
Pain is individual; for me, it was very minimal. The worst was when I would reach or flex my chest muscles. But as the implants drop into place, that goes away. Yes, they go in up higher and then you are told when to start massaging them to help settle them into their final place.
I also had a thigh lift when I had my bl/ba. I returned to work 2 weeks after with the stipulation that I only work from home, no traveling - but that was due specifically to the thigh lift than the breasts.
For me, yes, absolutely worth it. I love the way I look, I love the way my shirts fit, and some styles I can wear that I couldn't before. I did not go too large, from people who have seen them recently they have all confirmed that they are proportionate to my frame.
I went with 375 cc saline which were filled to 400 because they are under the muscle. They won't go by cup size because that is very subjective. You'll get a try on bra and sizer implants that you'll put in, put your shirt on and check your profile. You won't know your true cup size until after they settle into place. I'm a full 36 D.

I had multiple things done at once, and I don't have the itemized list with me. Everything was 27K, 2/3 of that was the ps fees and the remaining 1/3 was hospital fees. I did payments three payments starting 3 months before the first surgery. So I think the ps fees for the second surgery were around 9K.
I put everything on a credit card then transferred it to a home equity line of credit once my points posted for my credit card (I used an affinity card), so I remember the 3 payments more than I remember the individual procedure costs.
