So frustrating just when i thought I was safe, my left thighplasty incision near the knee gets an infection/seroma. It was completely closed so i thought the worst was over. I woke up with pain swelling and fever. My Doc said he needed to open it up and drain it. The pain was almost unbearable. So now back to square one with laying down with leg up and packing the wound. Sorry but I just had to vent. Anyone have this experience 6 weeks after surgery? And how long did you have to pack wound before it healed. Thanks for any advise.

I developed a seroma in my right leg, by the knee about a week after the drains came out - probably about week 4 post op.  My ps knew I was traveling the following week, so he opened it up, drained and packed it.  There was no infection though.

I was able to continue my travel plans.  Mine closed up fairly quickly and without mu*****ident.  I traveled with my packing guaze, scissors, tweezers and tape.  I didn't see my ps for two weeks as I opted to stay the weekend before starting the cross country back and forth every week so by the time I saw him again, the opening was completely closed.

No specific expierence with this, but I have been dealing with complications for 4 weeks, so I totally understand.  Its rough!  But it will pass, and we will forget all about it...I think ;)
