weight loss post op

I am wondering how many people lost weight, gained weight or stayed the same in the weeks after their plastics?

I have lost 16 lbs, the doctor took off 7 but I am still swollen too.  I know I have lost so much in the past 3 weeks because I have been ill and struggling to get in food and fluid.  But because of the problems I have had, its been hard.  I will do well a day or two, then get sick again.  I figure I will gain a little back when I get back on track, its more then I intended on losing, and I know I am losing muscle mass too, and I plan on getting that back for sure.

Just wondered if most people lost pretty rapidly post op?

No help for you, just sympathy!  Sorry you have been having such a hard time.  Remember, when you were worried you needed to lose more weight and we all advised to get plastics first and see where you were afterwards?  Guess you made the right decision, considering how much more you have lost since plastics!  Good luck in getting well soon.

I have the same worries Missy.  I simply cannot afford to lose any more weight and I'm certainly not willing to sacrifice my hard earned muscle.  Keep doing whatever you must to keep your weight steady.  It's too dang hard to gain muscle.

I lost quite a bit after having my thighs and arms done at the same time. It was a lot of big incisions. My surgeon explained to me that along with my lack of appetite that my body was in a hyper-metabolic state trying to heal itself. He said that once things settled I'd most likely put a few pounds back on, and I did.

Me too.  I'm grateful.  I'm not worried, I still have a bit more to goal, so it's all good.

I lost a little at first, after the initial swelling went down. Then this problem in my abdomen started - Dr L says it's adhesions - and I began gaining. My waist size has increased 11 inches since right after my tummy tuck and it's hard as a rock so I know it's not fat. My hip measurements say I should wear a size 10-12, but because of my waist measurement I need a 20-22.

I lost about 10 pounds and honestly, I did NOT have a lot of skin removed, since I was a "light weight" pre-GB and lost "only" 112 pounds.

At 5 months post op TT, etc. and I am still about 7-10 pounds under my pre-surgical weight.

It's been a week and I'm down 8 lbs as of this morning and I'm still quite swollen and AF is due today or tomorrow. For me, it's all good and has jump started my wt loss again. I have another 9 lbs to my goal so I'm thrilled so far. Restriction is back too.

OH.... according to the surgical nurse, I had 2700 g of skin & such removed plus 800ccs by lipo so I'm guessing about 8-10 lbs removed during surgery so I've got a few more to go.
