I know patience is not one of my strong points but here is my question. I had a LBL on 05/19/10 followed by brachio in June and BL / thighplasty on July 23rd. I know that this is alot of trauma on the body in such a short time but I am still having daily abdominal swelling. Is this normal? my doc said it could last 6-12 months but I just was wondering if this is the norm. Also the numbness from the LBL does it get better? Any input on your experiences will be great.
Aloha,
Linda

my belly below th BB is still numb after 20 months, arms re not & never wer numb and thighs are not numb. the belly numbness i m used to it and I know never to lean against the stove or Barb Q grill cause i wont feel it.
Swelling now that is anothe isse, I wore my compression garments for 6 months post abdominoplasty not cause he said I hadto but because i liked it & it kept the swelling down, I had bought compression garments from Maena group.com and they r so comfortable u dont eve know u have them on . not like those bulky things the PS gives u in the OR.
Good Luck to you

Hi Linda,

I'm 9 months post LBL and still have some area of numbness between my belly button and incision line.  I no longer have swelling on a regular basis; just swell in abdomen and lower back with intensive exercise.  You can expect to see final LBL results between 9 and 12 months.

I had swelling off and on for 18 months, more on. I still have some numbness in small areas between my belly button and incision area too. I know this because sometimes I lean my mousse can against my belly as I squeeze it and it doesn't feel as cold below my BB! LOL

I had very little swelling after my first round of surgeries. After the second round a month later, my thighs is where the majority of my swelling occurs.  From time to time, my tummy gets a bit puffy, but it's directly related to how long my work day is.  My legs in general swell after a day of wearing heels and after working out.  My first round was 5/28 and my second 6/25.  My arms never really had any significant swelling.

As for numbness, there are only a few spots of numbness around the incision above my butt.
