Pre Op Yesterday, Surgery in less than 3 weeks
It's hard to believe this is happening! Yesterday I had my pre-op with the plastics doc. He said I am "skinny"--REALLY???? I've never been called that in real life; especially by a doctor. Some good news is that he now feels that the butt flap aug isn't the best option for me. Instead, we are going to utilize the fat from the saddlebag lipo and inject some around the tailbone area. Also, he isn't 100% that the full fleur de lei will be necessary. Therefore, I'll have to find out what was done when I wake up in recovery. I defined that I want NO muffin top. That is more important to me than if I have a scar or not. I'm not one who will be showing my belly to anyone but my hubby or doctor. My next appt is with my PCP next week for her pre-surgery appt. I'll post again afterwards.
Thank you so much for your reply. I'm excited and scared. It seems to be all I have to talk about at the moment. I'm trying to get my house in order for that day. I'm cleaning out drawers, clutter; making extra dinners / lunches for DH and Kiddos. Hubby told me today that I should call a cleaning service to come and deep clean the whole house so I don't have to worry about that this fall. He is such a gem! His thought: have them come in the two days I'm in the hospital. I like the way he thinks
Hi RhondaRoo,
I am just starting to look into plastics, and live in the Cincinnati area. Mind telling me who you are going to? I had my first consultation this week, and will be having surgery the first week in January. Full fluer de lie abdominalplasty, with thigh lipo. Very excited just thinking about it.
Thanks, and good luck to you.

Best of luck Rhonda! It's quite the ride. Your surgeon, if he's worth his salt IMHO, is an artist and I would give serious thought to his suggestions. I was thinking I might need a fleur de lis and he said no way - not needed and I didn't have one. That being said, I was quite curvy and have a cinched-type waist all on my own. One week post op and I have NO muffin top - nada.
Ask him about ice for your lipo-ed areas to reduce bruising and swelling. I'm not sure if it would help but I chose to not do a LBL and just had the extended TT with some lipo for shaping at my hips/upper bum/lower back area (is that the flanks?). It's swollen and bruised and at first I was upset with the look but I can already see it's starting to go down and I'm pleased (sore but pleased) with the results.
