or the shortest...ugh...I had this stupid nightmare last night that I woke up from surgery with no boobs left and no belly button....talk about freaking out and being in a total panic...and of course my darling husband says oh come on...like that's ever happened...I glared at him and replied want me to show you the posts...I finally got back to sleep about 5am...well i'm up and doubting I'll sleep much tonight before surgery...but amazingly I'm perfectly calm this morning and I think as prepared as I'm going to get...so I'll keep myself busy today and wait...oh how I hate waiting...lol

Remember that your DH meant well, he just wasn't as informed as you.  Being nervous is perfectly natural.

I didn't sleep much the night before my surgeries either, and my DH pointed out that I'd be sleeping while in surgery.  lol  Husbands are cute aren't they?

If you can avoid taking a nap today, perhaps that will help you fall asleep tonight.  The day before my surgeries, I had a list of things I wanted to get done before going to the hospital to ensure I kept myself busy and my mind occupied.  Aside from a bunch of errands, I also cooked huge dinners that gave us enough leftovers to make it easier after surgery where neither of us had to think about planning or making dinner.

I also made a list of projects I wanted to complete while recovering so I just wasn't sitting surfing the web or watching mindless television - downloading and categorizing pictures we had memory sticks, organizing recipes, etc.

Before you know it, it'll be time for bed and you'll be exhausted.

Thanks again for the encouragement and ideas...it helps...

I have no informed response to the original post, but my neuropsychology professor (a man) told our class that the Y chromosome is a birth defect.

That's why more males are conceived, miscarried, have notable birth defects, die younger, and develop more slowly than females. Our class felt it explained a lot (school psychologists dealing with developmentally delayed students).

We agreed that it's a good thing men are cute, or there'd be no reason to keep them around.

Yup, mine is very cute - MOST of the time. LOL!

I hope he thought he was telling a joke, because otherwise this man is an idiot.  And so are any school psychologists who believed him.

Jeez, some people.  A birth defect?  Really?  It's one thing to say that the y-chromosome evolved from the single allele of ancestral vertebrates, but a birth defect?

This guy is like the men of yore who used to say women were smaller, weaker, incomplete variations of men.  And without souls.  What a dick.

As far as more boy babies having birth defects, consider this:  There are more boys born, PERIOD.  So of course there are more boys with birth defects than there are girls with birth defects.  Also consider this, please -- All things being even, boy neonates are likelier to survive to birth than girl neonates with the same problem -- hence, a higher rate of them being born with birth defects.

In conclusion -- this professor is an a$$

And in addition -- what an a$$.

I remember thinking the night before surgery would never get here. Then when it did get here, I couldn't sleep which ended up being the longest day ever!

Good luck with your surgery!
