panic about shape 2 days post reduction/lift
Hi everybody -
I'm mostly a lurker but I need some opinions. I had a breast lift/reduction on Tuesday. Today I could take off the surgical bra and remove the gauze. I'm freaked out. They look like two torpedos aiming straight out to the side. I was a DDD and he was going to take me down to a C but they look hugs to me right now. My pain is very minimal. I've taken nothing but tylenol since coming home... but having my first look has sent me into emotional trauma!!
Any thoughts or similar experiences?
Thanks so much

Hi Lisa,
You'll get many responses (I'm sure) that will ease your mind. I just happen to be reading your post at this moment. I'm 6 weeks post-op BL, and after two days I had EXACTLY the same reaction that you just did! It's funny when I think about it now, but it wasn't then. I can say that as of today, my breasts are looking very nice. Scars are minimal, and I'm still healing. They have settled down and falling into place somewhat. I'm not even finished settling yet. My surgeon told me NOT to get too excited before 3 months - and even then it may still take a bit more time to get the TRUE visual of the final results.
SO, you are absolutely normal in my opinion. Each week your breasts are going to change. I just set my mind on putting my little "scar prevention" regimen in place. In other words, I got my scar preparation (silicon strips), scar gel, and cocoa butter. I'm been plastering myself in the morning (15 mins) and in the evening (15 mins) with my preparations. I must says that the "keyhole" incisions lines on my breasts are really fading very nicely. My arm is looking really good as well.
Ok, you'll get more responses, but I just had to put my little .02 in - being fresh out of the BL gate. LOL.
My best to you!

I had a lift reduction years ago, and went into shock when I first saw them too. Mine didn't look torpedoish, but were big weird mounds, really high, like close to my neck! ALL the fat was above the nipple. Can you say "seriously weird tits"? I nearly took a cleaver to them right then and there!
My surgeon talked me off the ledge, and he said they would "settle" over the next few months. They did settle into near perfection. Most surgeons will revise if they've do something horrendous, but I don't think you'll really know what they're gonna look like for months, and I bet you'll be happy.

Ok you ladies have me laughing and nervous both at the same time. I go for my reduction/lift Sept. 15th and I just need to know what will i need at home to apply so the scars will heal? I think after he takes all the insurance requires him to take i MIGHT be a B cup..i'm a DD now they requiring him to take ALOT!
Hi
I had a BL/BR on June 10th. I went from a DDD (F) cup and that was after being almost 2 years out from RNY. When I was SMO, I was about a I or J cup and huge. I went down to a D because I still have about 40 pounds to my personal goal and I didn't want to look like someone poked me with a pin.
My surgery was day surgery and I only took Vicodin and had ice packs on for 2 days. I was more tired than anything else. I went to my plastic surgeon the next day and it was trumatic to see the bruising and it looked awful. I looked like I was in a train wreck with all the bruising and blood. I have a great husband who helped clean the incisions until my 3 week follow up where the appearance hit home when my plastic surgeon showed me my before pictures. They hung down to my waist and I had to hoist them up before and the pain from my straps were far worse than what I experienced after surgery. Additionally, in the lift part, my surgeon had to go 2 inches past my armpit and he took a total of 6 pounds of tissue off my chest whi*****luded liposuction. My bariatric surgeon (who I saw a few weeks later for my 2 year follow up) did give my PS credit for those 6 in the previous year.
After my 3 week follow up, my PS told me I could use pressure massage with Vitamin E oil which I am still doing. I see him in a few weeks. The scars are starting to fade (especially in the areola area and in the keyhole cut area). They are worse on the side but not that bad. I think they will get better.
The appearance will get better. Hang in there and get well.
