Breast Lift/Aug vs Breast Lift Only?

Do you get better results with a breast lift plus implants (firmness, sitting higher up on chest) than you can if you just get a breast lift? I still have a fair amount of size, basically still a D-or C-cup (so much seems to be skin) but was wondering if you need implants to get better results on the lift, or can you get great results from only a lift when you are/were larger?

Any input on what info/how you decided is appreciated.

I was going back and forth on the same decision.  However, when I started looking at before and after pictures, then talking to my ps, I really liked the profile of the implants.

I was a hanging C cup (i.e., mostly all skin that squished into a C cup).  Now I'm a firm D and could not be happier with my choice.

There are women here who were able to achieve the results they wanted without the implants.

Thanks for the info, Lisa! I hear ya on the "hanging C-cup" issue! A definite question for the plastic surgeon, I imagine, but it's good to hear opinions in advance.

Yes, it is good to go in with some thoughts prior to the appointment.  A lot of what the ps will recommend will be based on your skin and breast tissue.  I had a lot of breast tissue changes with my weight loss so for me the implants were the right choice.  Did I mention I love them?  :)

I have been pondering the same thing.  Right now my decision is to do the lift without the implants.   But that could change and I'm glad you posted the question.

I never pondered that thought, only b/c mine hung so bad that there was no hope for just even a lift.  Mine was more so all skin and I went from a large D to a small B.  They were flat to my chest but hung to my belly :(  I do know that with lifts, they remove a good portion of your skin.  So a lift only, for me, would have just put my skin up higher but nothing to fill.  So I went with implants + lift and now I am at a large D.  But its good b/c they are perky and nipples poke right out front.

Thanks for your perspective, Andrea! Have perky breasts sound great to me, sigh...

I think a lot depends on how much you would have left once all of the extra skin is gone!!!!  I had my BR/lift only done in May.  I was a H/I cup and now I am a full C cup w/o implants.  They are full and perky, but for me, I had more than enough tissue to work with!  My dr took 1 3/4 pounds from left side and 1 1/2 pounds from right side and still made me a full C!

I guess it just comes down to what you tissue you have left to work with!

Your PS would be able to give you a good idea if there would be enough tissue to work with or if he/she would recommend a aug.

Thank you for the info! I may have enough tissue to work with. I guess we will have to see what the plastic surgeon would say and how big I would want them!

I was a FULL DD 140lbs ago.  Now?  A loose C or FULL B.  And pretty much all skin.  Rolled up.  (great visual).

Both PS's I consulted with suggested implants.  The second gave me a great description of how he wouldn't be able to get rid of the excess skin without MANY scars, so I'd end up looking like I had saggy man-boobs insteaad of breasts.  His suggestion was to leave them the way they were if I didn't want implants - that they'd look better like this!!

Anyway - I think only your PS can tell you if you still have enough tissue.  Sometimes they can augment from under your armpits too (I have no fat left there either - sigh).

If not -how it was explained to me was that a small implant can take up some of the "slack" and then they can do a lift with a minimal scar to make "natural" looking breasts.
