How do you lay down with an LBL?

Missy, so using a recliner was not really much of a problem for you?  How did you get out of it?  I"m so sorry you have been having some complications.  Hopefully you can get out of that darn hospital really soon!   -Jenny

Jenny, you can rent this type of chair at a place that does medical equipment or senior citizen stuff:  http://www.easymedonline.com/Lift-Chairs-s/71.htm    Possibly, if your doc gives you a script for it, it can get covered.

I went back and forth ,starting with the recliner the first few nights and then to the bed with pillows under my knees. It was easier at first to lay on my back. after the first two weeks my side was better. I slept on the recliner during the day the first two weeks. Its not as bad as you think . My LBL has gone very smoothly. I am five weeks out and went back to work last week. I haven't had a lot of pain just kinda sore and uncomfortable.

Susie, thanks for the info.  I'm a side sleeper too.  I just want to be able to sleep, some way, some how.  Glad your LBL has gone well.  What pain meds did you use and for how long?
Thanks, Jenny

I took perks the first week but could have gone without them. I take one now when I overdo stuff and need to sleep. I haven't really had a lot of pain.

I chose the LBL because I carried most of my weight in my butt and upper thighs and that's where the worst of the saggy skin is at. It helped somewhat, but I'm still saggier than I had hoped for and my butt is soooo flat now.

Sleeping and sitting wasn't bad at all. I was on oxycodone and it made me very sleepy so I did a lot of napping.

I had the fleur-de-lis TT and my scars go all the way around I'd say halfway across the width of each buttock -- VERY extended line.  He tucked as much as possible to be able to still consider it the same procedure.  I'm INCREDIBLY pleased!

Sleeping was an issue, however.  I could not sleep in my own bed for 2-1/2 weeks postop.  I slept in a recliner with a pillow on each side to help support me.  It wasn't too bad, but I was tickled to get into my own bed again.

I slept in a lift chair for about 2 weeks after my lbl. The pain wasn't as bad as I expected either. Once I moved to my bed I just propped up a bunch of pillows. No matter how you sleep you will be using your ab muscles some. The lift chair was great because it practically lifted you up to almost and erect position which made it so much easier. I got mine from a medical supply place the first time and rentacenter the second.
