Hubby got home and was able to examine it (he is a doc) and talk to my surgeon.  A couple stiches ripped to let out a whole bunch of old hematomoma blood that was in a different place then the drains I guess. Or something.  Its really painful.  I dont think it was normal.  Or I sure hope it isnt.  Cause if people had this all the time, it would be all over the board.  Its painful and scary and really messy.

Oh darlin I felt like crap and literally no matter how I felt did NOTHING for the first 2 weeks.  Like I said I felt better at week 3 but my doctor warned me and I'm glad he did.  I bought most my sanitary napkins at WalMart and the 99c store and used those.

If your drain stopped sounds like it was blocked and yes your body will FIND a place to drain.

Regarding the eating more YES YES YES you NEED the protein now more then ever so shakes cottage cheese anything and everything high protein to get into your body to help it heal.

Don't do ANYTHING that can be done by someone else.  Right now is NOT the time to be the superwoman that you are.

I like this.....and you are right! Better for the wounds to drain, by whatever means, than for them to develop a seroma. It does sound like the drains were/are clogged.

To the OP: good luck; hope you feel better soon.

I used maxi pads.  I placed a sterile bandage over the hole and then put a maxi pad on top of that.  I also would just stand in the shower under the running water and just let it flow.  I hope you are feeling better soon.
