X-post.... brachioplasty info???
I am thinking about getting the bat wings removed.
Just had some questions about brachioplasty.
- Approximate cost?
- Is recovery very painful?
- How much time off from work? (I sit and type and my job)
- Is it an ambulatory procedure or inpatient?
- Do you have drains?
THANKS!

I had my wings clipped in May and I very happy with the results!
- Approximate cost? I had a TT at the same time and for both was 13k
- Is recovery very painful? not really, more annoying with the swelling than painful
- How much time off from work? (I sit and type and my job) I'm a Princess so no job, but I would say a week to 10 days I would of been ok to work if I had a job.
- Is it an ambulatory procedure or inpatient? It was outpatient surgery for me
- Do you have drains? no drains

I MY RNY 5-5-09 Life is Good
Had mine done in late June--doing well.
I had a TT at the same time, which was covered by insurance, so my surgeon fee for my arms was $4,000 (he discounted it from $5,000--it's a good time to haggle over elective surgery prices.).
My arm recovery was not painful. The first couple of days, I made sure I did not miss a dose of pain meds, so life was good once I got off the meds, I felt fine, too.
I am a SAHM, so I had my kids stay with my sis for 2 weeks. If I had an office job, 2 weeks would probably have been okay. I would have needed to crash at the end of the day, though.
I had a drain in each arm pit for 7 days. I hated them after about 2 days!
It was soooo worth it! There are pix on my profile.
Good luck!

I had mine done w/ my LBL. I'm guessing the cost of the arms was aroun 3-4k. I did have drains but only for 2 days and had them removed when I left the hospital. Mine would have been outpatient but the LBL required it to be in the hospital. I was out of work for 4 weeks because of the LBL but if I just had the arms I would say about a week. Recovery was very easy and painfree. You just have to be carefull about over using the arms in the beginning and lifting too much. Also you won't want to reach up high for a few weeks. I was on the computer at home typing and such pretty much right way. Usually your fingers will be swollen the first few days but usually goes away about 5-7 days out.

- Approximate cost? I had mine done with a few other procedures (check my siggy); I don't have my itemized list with me at the moment but I'm pretty sure it was under 5K
- Is recovery very painful? The arms were the easiest of everything I had done. I had very very little swelling in my arms. The only time I did have any significant swelling was when I lifted a little more than I should have at the grocery store.
- How much time off from work? (I sit and type and my job) I would venture to guess 2-3 weeks maybe. I did everything between two surgeries a month a part so for the total I was off for 6 weeks, returned to work with a "work from home/no travel restriction" for two additional weeks, after that started the weekly travel schedule. I will say that the week before the second surgery I was allowed to resume working out for one week but no weight lifting; cardio only.
- Is it an ambulatory procedure or inpatient? I had an overnight stay, but again, multiple procedures.
- Do you have drains? Yes, I had a drain in each arm; I had my surgery on a Friday and the drains came out the following Tuesday.
I had excellent results and I could see them immediately when my ps took my dressings off the next day after surgery.

Hi! I had my arm lift last November. It cost $5,500. I didn't have drains and didn't wear compression garments. I took pain medication the first few days. I did swell after I exercised for about the first four months. My surgery was ambulatory - it was the only procedure I had that day. I was off work for 2 1/2 weeks. My surgery went from about an inch below by elbows up my arm to my arm pits and down about 4 inchs - best part I no longer have to shave under my arms!
When they removed the skin under your arms, they also removed the pit area that had the hair???? WOW, what a cool bonus.... no more shaving!
