Question about girdle with hives

I'm 8 days out and I'm really hating my girdle that the Dr. provided.  it probably wouldn't be so bad but after any surgery, I get hives.  Something that just can't be avoided.  So, with my super tight girdle, I have super itchy skin under neath :( My Dr. said I could switch to a softer, panty girdle when I'm comfortable with it.  I have a panty, high waste Spanx but it doesn't hold me in near as tight as the velcro girdle from the Dr.  I've also got several Flexees tops and its the same thing.  Does it matter how tight the girdle is?  Or do you just need something tight fitting?  I can hardly stand another minute in this super stiff, super uncomfy velcro girdle that digs into skin!

I know there are some ladies here on the board who have been allergic to the latex or other materials used to make the medical gurdle. I would definatly try some of your doc's other suggestions!

Have you tried wearing a long tank top under the girdle?

I had an ab binder after my lbl and the tank tops kept me from itching.

The hives aren't from the girdle.  They're inevitable.  I've had them after all 3 c sections, after my VSG and now this.  It's something from surgery or the pain meds.  it's just that girdle aggitates it.  I do have a Flexees tank under the girdle now but trying to itch through a thick girdle, then a tank, then gauze padding?  Very frustrating.  Just curious if I would see better results with the girdle rather than switching to a panty spanx or a Flexees tank, alone? My Dr said I could switch to a panty girdle any time I felt comfortable, but I'm afraid I'll swell more or something.

Check iwith your ps if you can take bendryl.  Mine had me take benedryl for itching.  I asked about using a hydrocortisone cream and he said no because he didn't want to take a chance with any of it getting on the incisions.
