Ok, feeling better

Somehow I really wasnt ready for how rough that first week would be. Maybe because I was having to hire/fire nannies, the hospital was a nightmare, etc. It was painful! Much more then I expected (lipo=ouch I think). After the hospital staff got around to helping me figure out how to get up, I have been able to get up and down from bed/couch/chairs/potty/ floor from the day I came home (day 2) without assistance. I have slept ALOT. I was having to take round the clock benedryl for some sort of rash i got in the hospital (I am guess latex despite thebig red warning bracelet).

So I am feeling better and the next step is getting these darn drains out so I can actually go out of the house. I know all docs do it differently, but can anyone remember how low they had to get to have them removed? I have one not draining but a couple drops and then one still 20cc of old blood over 12 hours :( Not too optimistic for that one for tomorrow. But fingers crossed none the less. I want to go out!!!!

So glad to hear you are doing better! The first week really is the hardest. I had my drains out on day 7, and it was wonderful!!! I hope you will get yours out quickly. It made me feel like a whole new woman.

Woohoo Missy, glad you finally feel a bit better.  I know the lipo hurts, I've been through that myself.  But it does get better quickly, I promise.  I'm not sure about the drains though, but I think a friend of mine who had the same surgery with the same doc got hers out on day 8 or 9.

How's the bathroom situation?  Anything yet?

oh yes, yesterday.  I threw a parade and a fireworks show.  Anyone in Houston should have seen.  :)

Do not take bowel programs lightly.  I did everything I was told and still ended up in trouble!  Go ahead and have everything on hand.  I was sure Iw ould be fine, I have IBS without constipation, so I followed the regimin and still ended up comstipated.  I almost always end up with the other issue (diarrhea!).

Well I'm a Miralax girl and have been for at least 8 months now.  That's really the only issue I've ever had with my sleeve.  I poop rabbit pellets without it.  I haven't asked Dr. Lo how he feels about it, but I know I'd be in trouble without it.  Was there something in particular that finally got you going or was it just a matter of time?

1/2 a deep fried chicken sandwich...LOL

:D

I used collace, miralax, glycerin suppositories, glycerin enemas, strong coffee....there might have been more I lost track.

So it might have been a combo but I wasn't feeling like eating more then a couple bites at a time of food and then I figured I was gonna really get my digestive system shaken up and eat 1/2 a fatty sandwich (not a normal food choice) and it was gonna kill me or make me poop.  I survived...barely....

Glad your feeling better!!  I know the stress didn't help your situation.  I honestly remember laying in bed at night praying I would take a poopster in the morning.... Sad but true.  Just doing that I'm sure made you feel better.
What color is the fluid in your drains?? I think mine had to be under 25cc in a 24 hour period to get them pulled.  "Better out than in" was my mantra.  I know they are a pain, but they will help so hang in there.

My first week was rough too :(  And I'm on day 8 lol...  I had my one and only drain removed on day 6.  I had a tummy tuck/ba/bl.
