Belly button poll

i fought to keep my belly button, but not for vanity reasons.  I had been super fat all my life and the TT was going to help me get closer to a 'normal' size.  I felt like if I lost my BB, I would yet again be abnormal.  It was all psychological/emotional for me.  It was such a priority for me that when talking revisions with my surgeon he assured me that he could save it again.

I still have mine... it's just 2 inches lower than it used to be and a bit "hooded".  I would not have paid extra (well, not more than $200, anyway) to have a new one reconstructed.  I have seen the tummy of several friends who don't have one anymore and it really doesn't look all that strange.

Yup I would, my tt was the best thing I ever did and not having a belly button would have not made me happy.  Add me as a friend if you wanna see my plastics pics.

At 66 years old I said, "Take it away". I'd heard it was the slowest place to heal and also a place where infections were common so I didn't want them cutting any extra stuff!!. I'm not at all sorry because I love saying I don't have one!! I won't be showing my belly off to anyone - still way too self-conscious - but the BB being absent is fun for me!!

I am scheduled for a TT/hernia repair on 9/1, and I've been told I will lose my belly button. I've decided to get a tattoo in its place, and I'm comfortable with that.....it took a while to come to the decision!! Good luck in whatever you decide!
