Belly button poll

It looks like I will be approved for a hernia repair and a pannulectomy but my doctor charges $650 to reconstruct a belly button. Is it really that serious? I'm thinking of going without, but I dont want to look freaky. What have other people done? I am grateful if I get approved for the pannulectomy and the hernia will take care of the tummy tuck part.
Would you pay the extra just for a belly button?

If the money was a deal breaker -- I would have to think about it.  But I am really attached to my belly button.  It has been with me a long time so I would probably find a way to fork over the cash.  But my question is why does he think you will lose the one you have?

I think right now it is up in the air, his surgery scheduler was telling me the what if's. I think that that would be the worst case scenario. I have always had belly button issues! When I was 5 I had to have an umbilical hernia repair so my belly button has always be a pain!
I'm jus glad that with the way I lost weight I do not have to have a full curcumfrential surgery. I know that that is not covered and right now I do contract work and only get paid when I work so any time off is money lost as there is no sick pay. Things are tight and I could use that $650 fo something like bills or new clothes!

Mine wasn't itemized out separately on my bill so it was lumped in there.  Had I had the option of having a new one or not, I would have not gone with a new one.  Not because of the cost - but because of the coolness factor.

There's a riddle out there something about an archeologist discovers a perfectly preserved body of a human female and immediately know's it's Eve.  How does he know?  Because the first woman didn't have a belly button.

So depending on your beliefs, it's kind of a cool thought.  At least in my opinion.  Then again, I am known to wave my freak flag a little too publicly.

At the very least, think about it as a conversation starter - you go to the beach and people wonder why you don't have one.... there's a million and one stories you could come up with to either mess with them a bit or make them regret asking.

that is so funny..so when I am found 2 hundred years later they will either think that I am eve or an alien!! I was thinking about it the same way as you it could be a great conversation peice and I could say anything I want about how i came to not have one!
I like your thinking!!

I was told there was a possibility I could lose mine with my LBL. I figured no big deal I will get my first tattoo in its place. He was able to save mine but I am not sure I would have paid extra for it. I have friends who no longer have one and they do not care.

I was told that I might lose mine, but it actually looks great, in my opinion!  I need to post some pics on my profile of my recent plastics.  I have videos on You Tube showing them, and pics on Facebook.

I don't know if I'd pay extra, as that wasn't mentioned to me.  But I am happy with the outcome.  I don't know if I'd miss it ... I mean, I don't use it for anything!  lol

i really love my new BBit was all in the price.
it,  is a matter of preference. Do you wear a bikini on the beach ? do u want a BB ring? if u r not going to show it then why bother. i would make sure he is doing the muscle tightening.
good luck to you

Its funny I have no intention of wearing a bikini and havent since I was in high school and not really even then (I wasnt fat I just liked on piece suits) I amd originally from californis and am a beach snob so I havent gone to anything that someone would call a beach here on the east coast!! Its not like I need the tan! ;-)
I do have piercings but i never wanted a BB ring. I think he is doing the muscle tighning becasue of the way the hernia is. I may not bother and I think part of the discussion may have been academic becasue I was talking with the girl who dose the scheduling and not the Dr about the procedure.
