I am curios to see pics of people that are more than a few months out. I am very light skin and am worried about how bad the scars will stand out after evertything is all healed up. Anyone got post plastics pics to share that show your scars?

I'm not that far out, but I am fairly light skinned.  How much and how quickly the scars will lighten is an individual thing for the most part.  If you resume smoking after plastics (which is highly NOT recommended) that will delay healing (and more than just on the surface scars).  What kind of scar treatments you use, genetics, etc all play a part in how the scars will lighten.

I've had some scars lighthen quickly, and some took a little longer.  Take a look at some of your other scars and think about how long it took those to lighten up.  For the most part that will be an accurate guide (barring a few random factors).  Now ask yourself, what will bother you more, the skin or the scars?  Can you handle darker scars for awhile knowing they'll lighten up eventually?

Hi Faith, I asked this question a few months ago and didnt get any response.  I too was curious about the long term look of the scars.  I am about 3.5 months out and have several pix on my profile.  I need to take some more pictures as I am really trying to keep a decent update of my journey.  Good Luck

Thanks for sharing Toni. Another question for you. How did you find the right surgeon in Mexico? Can you share your experience?

It was just luck that I found Dr Sauceda.  I had talked to a lady from Louisiana (where my hubby is from) about the sleeve.  She had recommended and used Dr. Guillermo and he had directed her to Dr. Sauceda. What better recommendation but from another doctor and they are not even in the same town.  (Later on my hubby did get the sleeve in Mexico so we were familiar with how things worked down there).  I followed his message board for about 7 months reading all the old posts and looked at as many pictures I could to see his work.  I saw other WLS patients at my support group and saw how their scars and incisions looked and honestly I thought the pictures I saw from Mexico looked better.  So basically I lurked alot on the boards and talked to many patients and I went there by myself and do not speak Spanish. I never had second thoughts about the surgeon and oddly enough was never really scared, with the exception of sitting in the lobby at the hotel the morning of surgery with all the security guards at the hotel.  That was a lil bothersome!!

Thanks for the info. Tha scars from my Band surgery have not really lightened over the last 10 months :(  The only plastics I am seriously considering if abdominalplasty, so I guess the scar shoudn't be an issue since it will always be covered...
