I got my referal from Tricare for the breast reduction (whoot! I have been having killer neck/back/head pain for weeks now & spent 4 hrs in the ER Monday because of neck spasms). So I am super excited, but scared!

Can someone tell me what to expect (pain/healing/discomfort/how much down time I can expect) I know it is not going to be fun, but I was wondering what other's experiences have been.

Congrats. I can tell you my story, but it can really vary.

I had a TT/BR 4.5 weeks ago. The most painful area of the BR was were the lipoed on the sides of my breast. Really sore. Next to that, the only other real pain I felt was when the pulled off the steri strips (sometime during the first week...a bit of a haze). Other than that, I feel pulling and tugging and sometimes sharp pains (especially when I had my period), but nothing more than that.

My surgeons office said most people who have a tt done at the same time as a br report the same. I think when you have a br alone, you focus more on the pain of that.

I realized during my shower this morning that most of the tenderness is gone.

Wishing you well,
Rachel

I had a reduction and lift in april. I love it. I have always been very self conscious about my breast size (I am only 5 foot tall) I used to look like I would fall forward! Anyway I went after weight loss from a 48 DD to now after my PS a 34 C. I still have a hard time with some button blouses. The pain was minimal, I had a drain for each breast. My surgeon did a keyhole lift because of the amount of tissue and skin removed am fully healed and can actually go bra less (something I could not do since I was 13). Good luck!

I had a reduction about 6 weeks ago - from a G cup to a C cup.  It was the best thing I ever did.  I had the surgery as an outpatient, drains in for 4 days, and was back to work in a week.  The pain was minimal - after a couple days ibuprofen was enough to take care of it.  Good Luck!

I just had my breast reduction surgery done on July 20, 2010. It was outpt, took about 2 hours per breast. I took a pain pill (Lortab) the night following the surgery to help me sleep. other than that, no pain meds needed. No real pain, just some minor itching and dull burning feeling. I have been up and out , all over the place since the surgery (museum, shows, sporting events, downtown houston, up and down stairs). There has been no pains and no problems. The most irritating thing to me is the compression garment.

I am so please with the results already and my PS said to wait 3 months for them to fully round out and for the swelling to go down. I have been trying on all my clothes that I cant wait to wear when these things fully heal.

My question to others is:
Has any one found a good sports bra that dont stop just under the breast. My PS said that I could sleep in a sports bra instead of the compression garment but so far the ones I found all stop right at the incisions and i dont want anything rubbing on the incisions.

Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels!

I was in a Kohls today and they had a greart selection of sports bras and I saw a few that come down farther then just under the breast.

They called my surgery a "lift" but I went from a D to a B so I'm calling it a reduction/damage control/lift :)

I argee with everyone else, very tolerable where pain is concerned. I had an extended anchor cut tummy tuck at the same time, (which was also tolerable, IMO), but the breast part was not bad at all. I'd say it felt kind of like when you've just had a baby and your milk is coming in... more pressure and discomfort than "pain". I also experienced some shooting pains from time to time if I would reach the wrong way, some pains here and there periodically, but nothing awful. I feel like if I hadn't had the tummy tuck at the same time, I would probably not have really need any pain meds. Here's an after picture of my incisions...and with these cuts, I am able to wear regular sports bras. I bought a few of the 2 packs at Wal Mart of the front latching ones. Been working wonderfully. Good luck!

thanks for sharing a pic! I like the size you ended up with. I am hoping to be at about 1/2 the size I am now!

I had my consult on Wednesday and the doc scheduled me for the 20th of Aug. He said that he is 110% sure TriCare will pay for it. I was in the ER a weeks ago with muscle spasms in my neck and upper back. And I have horrible headaches and cant see living on pain meds when it is a easy fix (ok not so easy!)
