Im having my surgery mon 8/2 and ask for your prayers.  I have DVT and had to get Ok from my
PCP and vascular Surgeon and a Critical Care doctor and give 3 pints of my blood. My PS said
they were going to put in a pain pump and I would be admitted for 3 days. I am so nervous about this surgery. I am having a panniculectomy not a TT. Please write back if any of you had this proceedure. I dont want to have a muffin top after this surgey .

I truly hope this surgery goes well for you - sounds like all your Drs. are watching you closely which is good. Good luck.

You need to discuss what to expect with your surgeon. A panniculectomy is not a tummy tuck - some surgeons will do a TT for the reimbursement that the insurance pays, but most don't. From my reading here, most surgeons just do the panni removal which could leave you with a muffin top depending on your current body shape.

Try not to worry they will be watching you close. As for muffin top, its better than muffin top with hanging panni. You will feel better without the panni. I know fixing one thing makes something else look worse but get thru this before you worry about something else.

I have had a DVT and I have clotting disorders. I take coumadin.   But I have had several plastic procedures without incident.  The trick is to get the timing right for starting the arikstra or lovenox shots after surgery.  Anytime I have surgery there is a hematologist on my treatment team.

Let me know if you want more information.

thanks, When did you restart the levenox after surgery. My vascular surgeon told me to stop the
Cumudin 2 wks before surgery and start the levenox, stop 2 days before surgery and resume the .levenox after surgery and 3 days later resume the Cumudin and levenox until my ipinr is stable.
I just don't know how soon after surgery to start the levenox

I usually take arikstra it is pretty much the same as lovenox but I only have to take it once a day.  I stop the coumadin five days before the procedure and start the arikstra shots.  They generally admit me to the hospital the day before the procedure and I do not take a shot that day.  Then they start the arikstra 18-24 hours after the procedure (depends on the procedure).  Then they start the coumadin when the danger of routine post op bleeding has passed.  Usually about 48 hours after.  I then take the arikstra shots and coumadin until the coumadin reaches therapuetic levels.  I get my PT/INR checked weekly.

Have your plastic surgeon consult with a hematologist about when to start the lovenox.  That is when it gets a little tricky.  When I had my TT (my first plastics) the arixstra was started too soon and I had internal bleeding that required a second surgery.  Since that occurred my plastics team has done a lot more research on when to start the arixstra and I have not had any further issues.  If all else fails have your PS contact the manufacturer of lovenox and get their advice on when to restart it.
