4-week update TT/BR/BL (both with lipo)
Hi all,
Well time sure flies when you are feeling good. I can't believe it has only been 4 weeks. I feel good. Abs feel pretty stiff if I've been laying or sitting long, but relax soon after I start to move. Boobs haven't really hurt at all until yesterday. I went to see my nephew's band, and the under arm area where they lipoed started really smarting. I realized I was chair dancing and moving my upper body a lot. As soon as I stopped that the pain went away.
This has me a bit concerned about going back to work next week. I'm a preschool teacher. My class will be first time to preschool 3 year olds, so LOTS of squatting (for that eye to eye contanct that is so important at this age). I'm only working 2 days a week then I'm off of teaching another 2 weeks before the fall session starts. Pray I can handle it!
My surgeon seems surprised at how quickly I'm healing. My incisions all closed during the first week and they look better every day. I have a bit of a bulge on one of my hips, but perhaps it will go down in time? I'm not worried about it. Areolas are a tiny bit off too...but no where close to how off they were before. And I already have full sensation back (hope that's not TMI, but it was a big concern for me).
Let me know if you have any questions. Mostly, thanks for all your support!
Rachel

Hi. I am pretty new to this site and have been reading a lot about all of the different options with plastic surgery. I had a lap band 3 years ago and a BR 1 year ago. It looks like I will have to have a RNY due to acid reflux and this being the best option to address this as well as allowing me to continue to lose weight.
I don't know if you have any answers for me, but I am concerned about how my breasts will look after I lose all of the weight after the RNY. I am pretty happy with my size now, but wonder if I will have any breasts left after my RNY and the subsequent weight I will be losing.
For any of you reading this post, I would welcome any thoughts.

Hi Nikki,
I wish I had a specific answer for you, but it really depends on your anatomy. I have a lot of very dense breast tissue. Even after losing 100+ lbs I had full breasts. However, a lot of people get what my rny friends call the tube sock look of empty, elongated breasts.
My BR doctor didn't remove as much as I would have liked because he said if I lost more weight (I'm up about 20lbs right now) I'd have no breasts left. He measured the body fat of my appendages and left enough on my breast to be porportionate to the rest of my body. This way if I lose weight, I'll still have proportionate breasts.

I appreciate your reply Rachelq. I guess I will just have to wait and see how my body responds following the surgery and the subsequent weight loss. I am just hoping that my weight loss will come from the other parts of my body, but understand I will have no control over that. Interestingly, I did not lose much weight from my breasts when I lost my first 65 lbs., so I will just have to see what the outcome is following my revision surgery and subsequent weight loss. I am really hoping that I do not end up with the 'tube sock' breasts, but will just have to see what happens. I have about 85 more lbs. to lose, most of it from my tummy on down. I am happy for your your success in your weight loss. Again, I am so thankful for your reply.
Take care,
Nikki

Aloha Rachel-
I've been told the lipo hurts more than the cutting/tightening - I only had to have a bit on my mons, and it didn't hurt worse than anything else. I did find the first week that I had to be careful squatting- I had done tons of squats to prepare, but squatted down to pick something up off the floor on Day 5 and felt a burning sensation that lasted a few days. I too healed very quickly, and had my surgeon's blessing to return to the gym for yoga and stretching on Day 12 once the last of 7 drains was pulled, and got to return to cardio and weights at 3 weeks ( with the caveat to start slowly ~ 25% of my normal workout duration/ weight/intensity and ramp up over the next 2-3 weeks). By 5 weeks post op I was back where I had been pre op, even the boxing which is my hardest workout. The worst was lying on my back --it was so strange- everything felt so tight as I had less butt tissue to cushion everything there ( I had a circumferential LBL and BL/BA, so my boda flattened out slightly with the lift), but I had great range of motion in arms and legs- just had to be cautious on the squatting.
Could you make a game out of it, where your kids pick up everything for you? Or put a star on a name board everytime they do pick something up? Are the 2 days in a row, or can you spread them out? Anti inflammatories will probably help- acetominophen doies nothing for me but ibuprofen is my go-to NSAID, not sure what surgery you had and if you can take an NSAID.
And Rachel, I was thrilled to not lose any nipple sensation- never TMI, this is the forum where everyone can get their questions answered ( even those deemed to embarassing to ask!). The hip bulge will likely flatten out- if it's hard there, it's probably your body resorbing suture material or where he anchored some musculature while tightening- and the body resorbs that suture by reacting to it, which can cause a hard (or "indurated" area). My measurements changed- eg the night before- waist 34.5. Three days post op- waist 36.5. Six weeks post op- waist 33. So stuff changes!
Be well, good luck back at work- XOXOLori

Hi Lori,
Thanks for the detailed reply!
They lipoed my mons and the sides of my breast. The mons feels a lot better, but the sides of my breast are still quite tender.
I still haven't been released for weights, but can to light cardio...walking not running, etc.
As for the kids, since they are so young and not used to school, it is a lot of separation anxiety. The more 'on their level' you can get, the less intimidating you look. I talked to the school director today, and my assistant is aware of the potential physical challenges and my need for extra help.
I don't take any ibuprofen type products due to my rny. I know a lot of people who do and get along just fine, then again, I know a few with ulcer issues. I have to be in extreme pain to make an exception to the rule.
And I think you may be right about the bulge, its right were the drain was inserted.
Thanks for the well wishes.
Rachel
