How long did you experience pain after BL/BA?  I had my surgery on 6/29 and my LBL is no problem, but the breast are very tender and still painful.  I am seeing my surgeon on Thursday, but I was wondering if this is normal discomfort.

Aloha Elina-
Ouch, I'm sorry. Everyone has their own pain threshold, but for me, the breasts were nothing at all- really no pain worth mentioning even from Day 1. When I started the daily 30 minute massage on day 4,  there was some discomfort but I iced first and timed it with a narcotic pill. and it was very tolerable. The LBL, which was supposed to be the major pain source,  had its discomfort well controlled by my OnQ Pain Blocker the first 5 days and by that time, there wasn't much pain anyway.
Did you have huge implants? Mine were only 300 cc to give me a C cup ( I'm 5'5", weigh 132-135, and wear a size 4-6 with a 34C-D bra now). My doctor also had to put drains in my breasts because I oozed so much at surgery time, and he rarely does that. He does not use compression garments, and I had very little liposuction ( only of my mons)  which I've been told is more painful than the actual cutting and muscle tightening of the LBL. I never even experienced the "zingers" they warned me about as the nerves heal.
If you are not spiking a temperature, and they are not red like an impending cellulitis or abscess, then maybe it's just stretching- but this far out it's difficult to imagine they'd be that sore. Move up your appointment if you are that uncomfortable and at least buy yourself peace of mind ( stress can lower our pain threshold!).
Be well- XOLori

It is so strange how different people heal differently.  My implants were 400 cc.  and I have no idea yet what the final size will be.  One breast has dropped and appears larger then the other.  Dr. Mariotti told me to wait another few weeks before going bra shopping.  My guess is that I will be a 32 DD.  I have always been large and the size feels normal to me.  I did not have drains in my breasts only in my lower mons area for the LBL.  I asked him about compression garments, but he does not believe in them.  I do not have a temperature, and they look fine, except for the difference in dropping.  My LBL does not hurt at all and is healing beautifully.  I have numbness around the incision and the belly button but that is all.  All the other swelling is gone.  I think when the other breast drops a little more and the pain subsides I will be very happy with my results.

Aloha Elina-
Well we have the same plastic surgeon- and I can attest to the fact that initially things might look uneven, they settle in nicely and I'm very happy with my results. And yes, we all heal differently- otherwise I'd be Lori McG and you;d be Elina Mc7, huh? At 6 months out I am not really numb at all but I was at a month out. He rarely puts drains in the breasts- did on me because I oozed so much at time of surgery. Even though I stopped my vitamins 3 weeks pre op, I did not notice that there was Vitamin E in my protein shakes- and I had increased those to 3 a day pre op- so that might be where my oozing came from. No harm now , though. Give yourself a good 12 months before evaluating symmetry- when I lok back at my Befores, I realize how assymetrical I was then, and how perfect they are now. Good healing- XOXOLori

I had a breast lift and mine are still tender almost 4 months later.

My surgeon told me he basically rearrange my breast tissue so depending on my tolerance level they could be tender 'til Christmas!

No implants....but a new procedure that is evidently quite radical (as far as tissue movement) and nerve sparing. I was warned beforehand that basically my entire breast tissue was being taken apart and put back together, sorta like a puzzle, and I would be tender for months! It's not painful; I'm just not used to really being AWARE of my boobs on a pretty constant basis.

I'm in the learning/research phase of plastics.  I do need a breast lift, but do not want implants.  Care to share more about this "radical procedure?"

Thanks!

I've no idea, really....it's something my surgeon "pioneered". I even had my photos flashed at some grand rounds he was leading at the University of Pennsylvania this summer! I just know it was sold to me as a procedure that would give me very high, round, natural looking breasts (yes) with full sensation (yes) AND would maintain my current cup size (yes). The cup size was a big deal, 'cuz I know a lot of people are told they will LOSE cup size if only having a breast lift due to skin removal. I don't pretend to understand the science; I only know my surgeon was so confident I would NOT lose cup size that he said "I'll fix it FOR FREE if what I tell will happen doesn't happen".

Sorry I can't be more help.

I had mine 6/22 and didn't even feel human till last week - i had saline under the muscle (475 filled to 575) and I'm still limited on what i can do. they said it could take up to 3 months..there's one lady at my gym who had hers redone after 9 years (she had a leak) and she said it took her over 6 months...

I've never felt like that ever and I've had my share of surgeries. Please - my RNY was cake compared to this - although the hysterectomy was pretty darn bad i tell you

hang in there!

Be happy.
