Where did you rent your lift chair?
I had a lift chair after my LBL. I was lucky and my friends had one from their grandpa and he had passed away so they let me borrow it. I actually still have it in my house as the grandson isn't ready to take it on yet. It made getting up and down a little easier for the first few weeks but you still have to use your legs quite a bit. However it didn't recline all the way so sleeping in it was horrible. Ended up getting a horrible headache from how my neck was kinked. Tried a second recliner for sleeping and then just gave up and slept on the couch.

i bought one from Sam's. It was not that expensive. I was planning to keep it - but after using it for one month - (post op LBL) I relized that it is not that comfortable, and the seat looked like it got permanantly compressed (after just one month by a 150 lbs person). it was too hig to use just as a nice chair - so it went back to the store.. I used it during the recovery... would kept - if it was good enough.
I can't imagine not having one. it really made a big difference in my recovery.

The one I used for my LBL I rented from a medical supply store. They had different sizes so I was able to try it out and found one that was best for my size since I was short. The one I got reclined almost to a complete horizontal position which was nice. They only rented for a month at a time.
The second one I got I rented from Rentacenter for like $22 a week. I only rented that for about 3 weeks. I absolutely loved it. I didn't have ask for help to get up since it lifted you almost to a standing position. I just liked not having to mess with a lever on the side of my chair to get me up or down or my legs to force it down. It would not have been easy those first couple of days.
I slept in mine for the first 2 weeks after my LBL since my bed was way too high to crawl in. The second time I had a harder time getting comfortable for some reason so I ended up on the couch after the first 4 days I think but I was in it all day. I also found that using a neck pillow helped me sleep at night.
Surprisingly both recliners were new when I rented them and I'm glad I had them. Sure I could have made do without them but I wanted to make my recovery as easy as possible. I just found myself always adjusting my pillows when I was on the couch every time I moved so I stuck to the recliner. It wasn't such a big deal with my LBL but it was when I had my arms done.

You can try Aaron's. They are like Rentacenter and lease furniture as well. It's worth a try. I know the medical supply is more expensive but I kind of just looked at it as part of my surgery cost. It was definitely worth it for me.

I rented mine from the medical supply place on Holcombe. It's in the shopping strip right next to Southwells..I can't remember the cross street..Greenbriar maybe??. My hubby had to go pick it up but it was a lifesaver! I plan on renting it again for my Sept. arms and thighs surgery!
