First time air travel yesterday
A good bit of my job (anywhere from 80-95%) requires travel, mostly by air. Although there are times I can work from home, ideally I am wherever my client is.
Yesterday was my first flight since before my phase one surgery. I opted for a direct flight from Cleveland to LA, rather than one with a stop. Flight time with a direct is a bit shorter and I didn't have to worry about making a connecting flight in a huge airport (which either would have been Houston International or O'Hare).
I managed the luggage okay by asking for help whenever I needed it. I did feel a bit of a pull in my lower abdomine when I tried picking up my suitcase but promptly set it back down. It still bothers me a bit but I'm keeping an eye on it. It's better than it was last night.
In flight, I made sure I had an aisle seat in a bulk head row. I was able to stretch out and get up easily enough. I walked about 3 times, plus stood up by my seat to stretch.
I wore running tights (as discussed with my ps) and that helped a lot with the swelling. I had very little swelling but I think it would have been worse without the compression of the tights.
All in all, it was a good experience flying. I am staying the weekend here and my DH is coming out to stay with me 1) because the guy needs a break and 2) so I'm not stranded out here on my own. I felt it best to stay the first weekend before I start the constant back and forth travel.
My ps wants me to call him in a couple days to let him know how things are going for me. Then I see him again on 8/9.
Aside from the skills and talent required to do this type of plastic surgery, having a good, open relationship with your surgeon is also very important. I value the fact that no matter what or when I call, I am never an inconvience for my doctor or his staff.

Hi Lisa
Good to hear things went well....I would have been a little anxious also wondering how I would fare
Great idea re the running tights...and better idea having your DH come out to meet you....hope you have some fun - LA is a great city
I love what you say about your relationship with your PS - so true and important and great advice for those searching for a surgeon
Have a great time out west - enjoy the great restaurants
