I just got a new job and we have a choice of aetna vs tuffts I'm 2 years out and after a total loss of 160 pounds I'm desperate to get rid of my apron of skin around my stomach... does anyone have any idea if one vs the other makes a difference with ease of approval for plastics? I know it all depends on the policy but some companies are stricter then others so just thought I'd see if there where any thoughts on this. TIA! I did post this on the insurance board but thought I might be more likely to find someone who was approved through either company on the plastics board hope it's ok to post on both.
I read that in order for Aetna to cover the abdomin your excess has to hang below the pubis. I'm assuming that basically means that when naked you can't see your pubic area. Any idea if I'm interpreting this right? If so, I'm screwed.....or maybe I need to start hanging weights from my panni to stretch it out! ;)
It really is how your company has their policy with Aetna. One company that uses Aetna as their carrier may include it, another my exclude it. Get a copy of your policy coverage from your employer and read it. If you can't find your policy, then contact HR for a copy. As an employee, you are entitled to have access to the policy. Even if Aetna would cover it, qualifications may vary between employers as well.
With insurance, it's all about how the policy is written and not so much which carrier.

Yes, that is the standard requirement (along with rashes that have not responded to other treatment) for Aetna (although it probably does not require that the entire pubic area be covered). It is possible that your particular policy is more lenient, but unlikely.
