Leaky Leg Update

I needed a catchy name for my right leg.  Leaky leg seems appropriate.

So Monday my ps opened the incision a bit to drain the seroma.  He packed it and showed me how to pack it for the next few days.  Of course he also did a culture swab too.  He wanted to see me today to see how I was healing.

He took out the packing and said everything was progressing nicely and that I have been doing a good job packing it.  GREAT NEWS!

He checked the culture report and there was no bacteria in the swab that he sent to the lab.  GREAT NEWS!

He said that he was very comfortable with me continuing my travel plans on Sunday.  I just need to call him in a week to let them know how I'm doing and to see him in three weeks.  BETTER THAN GREAT NEWS!

So my travel plans the week of 8/9 will have me flying out later on Monday rather than Sunday night.  I am back to my usual 80-90% travel.

I'm in the final stretches of recovery and gradually resuming my regularly scheduled life.

I need to take some current pictures this afternoon.

Awesome News!!!  You're a great inspiration to me.  I have a couple similar situations after brachio revision.  It hasn't been called a "sermona" or packed and I pray that I don't get that far.  But I can relate to the "leaking" issue.  :)  I expect my report to be as great as yours.

Have a wonderful time in your travels.  I look forward to hearing and reading about your great time in the future.

Blessings to you always.

Thanks Rose.  My travels are work related, but I can tell you that I absolutely love the L.A.  The more I work here, the more I could live here.

I was totally bummed when the leg started giving me trouble but once my ps opened the incision to drain and pack it - I felt relief immediately!  No, you don't want to experience problems but this was not as big of a deal as it sounds.

I had a week of packing the wound at home before I had to get ona  plane.  I brought all my supplies with me, I continue to change my dressing 3 times a day and lo and behold, everything my ps told me about how it would heal is dead on accurate.  It's just a tiny little divot now.

Thats so awesome Lisa.  I know in time that everything does get better.  I've been bringing extra dressing to keep my incisions clean as well.  I looked at it earlier and it looked pretty good - doesn't seem to be draining as much.  Well keep each other updated.

So you are out on the West Coast?  Los Angeles?  You must have an awesome job.  :)  If you're speaking of Los Angeles, California that's only about 1 1/2 to 2 hours (depending on the area) from where I live here in Bakersfield.  I love that area also.  Lots to do there.  I mostly love the beaches and the outlet malls.  It's wonderful.

Have fun and we'll touch bases later.

Hugs,
Rose
