Hello everyone! I am curious to know how many people on this board who are considering or have had plastic surgery have had or have considered having Lymphatic Drainage Therapy pre and post surgery. I am a 4 years out WLS patient and am now a massage therapist and am currently training in LDT, and will be certified in November.

I would love to hear everyone's stories.

I am located in Sacramento, Ca and if anyone is looking for referrals in this area.
I know several very qualified excellent LDT Specialists.

I think it's wonderful that you are getting certified for LDT - there clearly is a huge need for qualified treatment for those suffering from lymphadema.

One of the surgeons that I met for a consult has a med spa and included in the surgery prices were several "lymphatic" treatments post-op. However when I questioned about their training, I discovered that they had no training or certification in LDT massage, just basic training. It made me think - how important is this treatment post surgery? I know patients with lymphedema need someone who knows what they are doing or they can do serious harm to the patient. But how important is this with post-op plastic patients? What are they really doing with their massage? Are they really moving lymph or just a light massage to help you feel relaxed?

BTW a number of people have posted here that they did have lymphatic massage and found it helpful - but I wonder if it was done by a qualified massage therapist trained in LDT or just a regular trained massage therapist?

I was going to see how my recovery went post-op but I was considering having lymphatic massage. Alas I'm not in Ca.
