lipo and thigh lift
I hope to lose another 50 pds within the next year but at this time still have a tire of fat around the top of my thighs. I understand from reading on here lipo has to be done first then later they do the thigh lift. Would I be insane to go for a consult and get lipo now so I could be ready for thigh-lift when I finally get to goal? With clothes on I look pretty good except these tires still show through. I know the lift will be needed and the thighs are the most important thing to me.
Thanks for any input
Cheryl
No you don't have to do lipo first. Most people have it done in conjunction with their thigh lift or LBL. Actually I think you will be throwing your money away because you have no way of knowing ahead of time how much fat will be left until you lose all your weight. Lipo should be left for those stubborn areas that will not go away with diet and exercise. There are a few cases where a surgeon may recommend doing it first but it usually isn't necessary. A good surgeon can tell you how much he can expect to lipo during the surgery. If you decide to pay the extra fee for lipo first, I would definitely wait until you reach goal.
I had wanted to do lipo on my back before my LBL too because I thought it would help but almost all my surgeons said it wasn't necessary and that whatever they needed to lipo could be done during surgery. I actually had a couple tell me I'd be wasting my money.

Thanks for the thoughts I was wondering if I would be wasting my money do it early. Think going to hit the weight loss hard to get the last 50 off. Then if I have to do them separately or together I can be prepared either way. I think the tire at top of legs will be there maybe at a lesser extent as they have been there since birth I do believe.
Hi Muffin
What is on my legs now is primarilylax skin. It isn't excessive though and my now legs look like some peoples after pictures for inner thighs. Still...I am tiny so ANY volume is too much. I can grab lax skin at the top of the inner thigh and about 1/3 way down leg to knee. I can tell there isn't any much fat in there.
Like when I am rolling it around there are no fat molecule lumps. This is the same on the back of my arms and abdomen. I only occasionally feel a fat granule.
When I had my chin liposuction done this past March, the doctor kept saying....well honey, there just isn't hardly any fat in here. But my chin "looked fat". It was just skin. The chin smart lipo did help tighten up my neck but it has also made me realize that what I need are the skin tucks. My chin still needs a tuck.
I haven't consulted surgeons on the thigh/arm tucks here in the US so much because I have only gotten to the tummy tuck. The cost is high -$6200 in our area and this doesn't include OR, Anesthesia, any lipo, etc.... So total TT cost around here is about $10-12k.
You did give me some things to think about.
