If you could only have one...
what would it be? TT or Breast Lift with Aug?
I am seeing another doctor in Aug for a consult. I went to a different doc before and was quoted 17K for a TT and breast lift. I contacted a different doc and was given an estimate of 13-14K for a TT, BL/BA. So more for less.
So the otehr day I asked my husband if he wanted to go to the consult with me. he then says "Jo, have you really thought about how we are supposed to pay for this? I know you are like get the loan and worry later but I am not. " Backstory is that i am going to be going to nurding school next year (one more year of prereqs) and when I do I have to cut my hours down to part time. So he is freaked taht we will not be able to afford it. I want to have my surgery before I get into clinicals **** in January during the break) so I will be all healed by the time I have my clinicals.
I was really pissed that he is just bringing up this concern now - I get it is a valid concern but why let me think in my head I am going to be having this done and then tell me No!!!??
I am thinking that if I have one procedure it will be easier for us to pay it off and then maybe I can have the other procedure later on.
Which would you do first if you had to split them up? I am thinkng my stomach because that would be the more painful and I would have like 9 months to heal before clinicals.

Yes it would probably be easier to it at the same time and alot of times its cheaper. But you dont want to go under financially over it either... I think Id do the belly first also. Check to see what the cost of doing the things seperate and maybe he will change his mind with the savings of doing them together..... I kind of went through a similar situation with my husband. I had my belly done and he made me feel like Id be able to do my boobs shortly after. Then he would act weird every time Id bring up boobs. He eventually told me to be happy with the boobs I had. I was heartbroken. About 3 months ago my husband ran into my OB/GYN who told him that he recomended me have my implants changed because they were over 10 yrs old and I was having issues with one. So finally he let me 3 weeks ago. Now he is real happy with his twins LOL.
If the tummy bothers you the most, then go for that first. I have also heard people and doctors say that having the tummy done first that it is easier to determine the size of the implants later on. If you look smaller and have a tiny waist you might be out of proportion with an implant size you might go with now. It seems the breast looks bigger when you have a smaller waist. Not sure if this makes any sense the way I worded it Toni

Plastics done 4/21/10 (Dr. Sauceda)
Extended TT, Full Arm lift, BL/BA, Long Thigh lift
I am only having one surgery done and I chose the TT. My boobs are OK if I wear a good bra and my tummy has always been what bothered me most. Before I lost all my weight I thought it would be my arms (have always hated them too) but after consideration (3 1/2 years) I decided that getting rid of the blubby belly was what I wanted to do and I'm glad. Have you checked a universary plastic surgery residency program? The costs are really less and everything is supervised closely. I love KU Residents.

I did check into residency programs and I guess they select X amount of cases per year and will call you if you get selected... i did not get a call back. I was just excoted to find someone who charges so much less than my initial consult. His fees including OR are like the other surgeons fee alone!

I agree you should go with what bothers you most, but for me, I got the biggest result from my LBL. It was really nice not to have to deal with the skin hanging any longer. The boobs can always be rolled up and tucked into a bra in the meantime.

Thank you God! I will always be grateful for the change you have made in me! All glory is Yours!
I agree with what they said about going with what bothers you the most.
I chose to do everything I wanted close together within two phases. Not because I had an overabundance of money, by far that is not the case. However, when I did my consult and had the estimate my DH took over and came up with a plan to pay it off.
We both agreed that we would really have to watch our spending over the next few years until it's paid off. From time to time, talks of the budget still come up and keeping me in check. But as much as I wanted this surgery, I also have to want the sacrafices that come with it. DH manages the money (that is one area in which I have no control) and he would be remiss in his duties if he did not remind me that we have debt.
You will feel far more comfortable going into the whole process if you have a plan in place on how you are going to pay off the debt. Most places want everything paid in full before you show up to the OR, so you will see the bills coming in before you've had any work done.
Good luck
